My story

BarryMaleAge: 2 yearsWeight: 40 lbsBreed: Collie Mix Hi, I’m Barry! I’m an active, outgoing, lovable guy who’s always ready for an adventure. I get along great with other dogs and kids, and I even like to play with cats (though I know some cats would rather not hang out with me). I’ve got lots of energy, so I’d be happiest in a stand-alone house with a super active family where I can stretch my legs and play. I’m house trained, crate trained, and I walk well on a leash (especially with my no-pull harness). At night, I sleep in my crate next to your bed—that makes me feel safe and calm. If you leave during the day, I’m happy to relax in my crate with a frozen Kong until you’re back. I love playing fetch  (seriously, it’s my favorite!) and I’ll run fast and far to catch the ball. I’m still learning how to let go of it, but I’m super food-motivated, so training comes easily to me. I already have great recall, and I’m working on commands like sit. I really enjoy spending time with my “pack,” whether that’s playing one-on-one or hanging out quietly while you work. Sometimes I get carried away with my enthusiasm, so I need clear communication and a little help remembering my manners—but I’m learning more every day. A couple of important notes: I’ve been treated for Lyme disease, and during my neuter surgery, my heart rate dropped, so that’s something to keep in mind for future procedures. My favorite things? Peanut butter, Nylabones, squeaky toys, and tennis balls. Most of all, I just love being around people—everyone I meet is instantly my new friend.
