My story

This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information.Ashley is on the at-risk list due to medical concerns. Ashley is a young cat who has developed a severe URI in the shelter. She is not eating, but has allowed all medical handling for supportive care. Ashley needs more individual attention and a quiet environment to heal. She is still seeking attention despite the severity of her condition and enjoys head scratches.A volunteer writes:Ashley is a rubenesque and well rounded figure in every way. She is welcoming and friendly, gives a tour of the community room(where she resides) to her visitors and very much appreciates gifts(like temptations and squeeze ups) and brushing. I love her luminous almost yellow eyes, her cheeky cheeks, the little white tuft on her chest and the silvery lining enhancing her grey dress and in particular her feet. She is a kitty with character and likely would do better with another friendly, cat loving and confident housemate. She feels a little lonely right now in her vast room and we are hoping that soon enough, another feline will join her. Of course, even better...a wonderful adopter will come along, meet Ashley, fall in love with her and take her home as a forever best friend! Ashley is waiting for you at the Manhattan Care Center. What my friends at ACC say about me:Ashley is very sweet and came forward when offered treats. She allowed and enjoyed all petting, purring gently while being pet on her cheek and along her back. She ate squeeze-up treats, and during a partial pick-up she grumbled and struggled somewhat. It has been reported that during a previous attempt to put her in a carrier she became extremely agitated, rolling around, vocalizing, and attempting to bite. She should be put on a specific plan for acclimating to a carrier that would be linked in the behavior assessment.Ashley interacts with the observer, solicits & appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred and be well counseled in reactivity to being picked up and placed in a carrier. Primary Color: Gray Secondary Color: Unknown (update later) Weight: 14.5 Age: 3yrs 0mths 2wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Ashley, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
