My story

Champ is a 10 year old Boston Terrier that weighs about 30lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. Meet Champ!  If you're looking for a dog with a big heart, then Champ might just be the perfect fit for you! This Boston Terrier is a delightful combination of playful energy and calm relaxation. He loves to interact with people and gets along well with other dogs. While he’s curious and enjoys a good chase or game of tug-o-war, he also knows how to kick back and be a serious couch potato once the zoomies are over.Champ is a joy in the car—he's excellent on car rides and loves to go on adventures. When it comes to his crate, he's a model dog, settling in without a peep at night, as well as being fully potty trained. He responds well to redirection and is quick to learn with positive reinforcement, though he may need a gentle reminder every now and then. His Favorite Things:* Stuffed squeaky toys: Champ loves toys that squeak, especially when they’re fun to toss around and chew on!* Knuckle bones: He’s also a big fan of knuckle bones, which keep him busy and entertained for hours.* Treats: Baby carrots are his go-to snack, and he’s also crazy about duck jerky. If you’re looking for a food-motivated friend, he’s your guy!Champ has a mellow demeanor and does well around crowds. He’s curious, but does not seem to get stressed out easily, even in busy environments (for short periods of time). He’s social and friendly with people and other dogs, and he’s always happy to meet new faces. While Champ loves to play, he does have a heart murmur(non-life-threatening) that means he shouldn't go on super long walks or play too hard for extended periods. He’s best suited for moderate activity—daily walks are fine, but he should avoid long, strenuous outings or being in the heat for too long. He is also extremely allergic to vaccines. He is up to date on the necessary shots but it is not recommended he get any more. In the past, Champ has had elevated liver lab values. Although they are now normal, we recommend getting labwork every 6 months to monitor, as we recommend for any senior dog. What Champ Needs:* A loving family who’s ready to give him attention, affection, and gentle guidance.* A dog friend would be a huge plus (but not necessary)! He loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with a playmate.* An adopter who can be mindful of his health and provide him with moderate activity and care for any skin issues that may arise. He does have occasional skin allergies and may require a cytopoint injection or a medicated mousse as needed. * Someone who appreciates a dog that will occasionally bark to get your attention, but not as a nuisance. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who will be happy to go on walks, enjoy cuddles, and join you for car rides, Champ could be the one for you. Don’t let his age fool you—he’s got plenty of love, playfulness, and quirky charm left to give! If you would like to give Champ his forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $250. He is being fostered in Urbana, IL. Approved adopters must be willing to travel to where the dog is being fostered in order to adopt them.  For a complete listing of all of our available Bostons, or to learn more about SCBTR, please visit our website at www.southerncrossbtr.com. Follow us on Facebook at facebook.com/southerncrossbtr or Instagram @scbtr. Thank you for choosing rescue and for considering Southern Cross for your next furbaby.  ** IF THIS AD IS STILL ACTIVE, THEN THIS PET IS STILL AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION ** ##2499651##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Champ, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
