Meet Sozu: If you’ve been searching for a goofy, sweet, 24/7 cuddle subscription service—congratulations, your order is ready for pickup. His favorite hobbies are....Standing up to give you full-body bear hugs, gazing at you like you’re the last slice of pizza on earth, and plotting how to wedge himself into your lap for maximum snuggle efficiency. Sozu is a 42-pound, one-year-old Australian Shepherd mix who found himself on the dreaded “urgent list” at an overcrowded shelter. Lucky for him (and for us), he scored a golden ticket out of there and into our fluffy butt program, where he’s now thriving as the goofy, affectionate cuddle monster he was clearly born to be. Basically, Sozu’s backstory proves he’s not just cute—he’s a survivor with a heart big enough to smother you in snuggles. When Sozu first arrived, he wasn’t sure what to make of his foster siblings. But now? Oh, now he’s all in. Wrestling, playing, bouncing around like a kid who just discovered sugar—Sozu has officially joined the dog party and thinks it’s the best thing ever. Cats? He hasn’t met any yet, so we can’t say if he’d see them as future besties or just strange little house goblins that are better left undisturbed. Kids haven’t been on his agenda either, but given his sweet, goofy heart, we’d bet he’d happily soak up cuddles from the kiddos and soon become their best friend. With people, Sozu likes to play it cool at first—giving you that shy, polite “hey, I don’t know you yet” vibe. But once he decides you’ve passed his secret background check, you’re in. That’s when you get the hugs, the wiggles, and the full-on cuddle subscription he’s famous for. Sozu lives his life at about an 8/10 on the energy scale. He’s always ready to go, bounce, or wrestle, but he’ll happily flop down after a good play session for some of his trademark bear-hug snuggles. Adventure is his love language. Sozu wants to leave the house, go new places, and make sure every single person he meets gets at least one hug. He’s not signing up for couch-potato life, so if “Saturday plans” means Netflix and zero movement, he is not for you. He wants hikes, coffee shop visits, office cameos—basically, anything that involves being glued to his person and living like a social butterfly. This boy is looking for someone who doesn’t flinch at the words “daily adventure”. Car rides? Oh, he’s in. He’ll hop in like he’s ready for Route 66, though you will have to remind him that the backseat exists and that is where he should be hanging out. Once he’s settled, he’s either gazing out the window like a philosopher contemplating life or occasionally announcing his presence with a bark at passing strangers. Favorite activities? Wrestling, chewing toys, carrying them around like trophies, and—his personal favorite—catching flies midair like a furry ninja. If you think bugs are gross, don’t worry. He’s got you covered. Pest control is part of his package deal. Basically, if you want a pet rock who sits quietly in the corner, Sozu is not the dog for you. But if you want a goofy, affectionate shadow who doubles as a workout buddy and emotional support comedian, he’s ready and waiting. Potty trained? You betcha. Let’s just say Sozu’s got the group project approach down pat. He follows the other dogs outside like, “Oh right, we’re doing this now?” Left to his own devices, he’d probably skip morning bathroom breaks entirely, so yes, his foster usually has to go with him. The kennel? Untested territory. We haven’t tried it yet, so for all we know, he could be a peaceful napper—or he could stage a breakout worthy of a Netflix special. Barking style? Surprisingly reserved. He doesn’t announce every squirrel sneeze like some dogs, but he will bark when he’s playing or when someone comes to the door—because duh, someone has to alert the house. And when you’re gone? He free-roams, wrestles with the other dogs, and hasn’t redecorated the house yet. Which, in foster world, basically qualifies him for sainthood. Sozu is the whole goofy, snuggly package—He’s sweet, he’s loyal, and he’s just waiting for his person to take him home and let him be the Velcro dog he was born to be. Now here’s the deal: commenting “OMG I want him!!! 😍” on this post isn’t going to cut it. We’re not Amazon Prime—we don’t do one-click dog shipping. You’ll need to fill out a real adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app so we can send it to his foster family, who will then read it. And if you’re approved? Congrats! Your prize is picking up this handsome fluffball in Norman, OK. He’ll bring the hugs, the wiggles, and the comedic timing. You just bring the leash, snacks, and a lifetime commitment to loving his goofy self.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sozu, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
