My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $750 Meet Mustard! Mustard is a 1–2 year old, 11 lb Pomeranian who came into our rescue with his “sister” Ketchup after their owner could no longer care for them. It’s clear these two were very much loved— Mustard’s sweet, affectionate nature shines through in everything he does.   From the moment he arrived in foster care, Mustard has been gentle, patient, and eager to connect. While he was loving right from the start, over time he’s grown even closer to his foster family and now follows them from room to room like the ultimate Velcro companion. He adores being near his people and is happiest when he can curl up close or keep watch by your side.   Mustard is wonderfully well-mannered: he’s housetrained, crate trained, and walks beautifully on leash without pulling. He listens attentively to gentle direction— often just a soft “no” is all it takes for him to adjust. He doesn’t bark excessively and doesn’t chew or dig. Truly, he’s a dream dog in the home.   When it comes to other animals, Mustard is easygoing and polite. He doesn’t bark at other dogs and while he may be a bit shy around especially exuberant pups, he remains calm and gentle. He hasn’t lived with cats but shows no concerning behaviors. With people, he is endlessly affectionate— he’ll happily greet you with enthusiasm and is quick to form bonds.   Mustard’s daily rhythm is simple: he wakes around 8 AM for breakfast, enjoys walks in the late afternoon and evening (5 and 10 PM), and spends much of his day relaxing nearby. Once he settled into foster care, he started to truly let his guard down— you’ll now often catch him sprawled out on his back, legs in the air, completely comfortable and content.   Playful in his own sweet way, Mustard loves food and will hop up excitedly, trying to climb onto you if he spots a treat or leash in your hand. His foster calls him “perfect”—loving, obedient, soft, and gentle.   Mustard’s ideal home is simply one where he’ll be loved and cherished as much as he gives love in return. Whether you’re looking for a loyal walking buddy, a snuggle partner, or just a steady and affectionate companion, Mustard is ready to fill that role and more.   Favorite Foster Story: “When Mustard sees me grab food or his leash, he does this little jump-dance trying to climb onto me—it’s the cutest thing ever and never fails to make me smile.”   If you’re looking for a loyal shadow who will love you unconditionally, Mustard is waiting to meet you.September 9, 2025, 11:23 am
