My story

Duke is a big love bug! He absolutely loves balls and ripping up stuffies, but hasn’t been getting into our shoes or things. He has been doing well in a crate when we leave (for up to 6 hours at a time, but could probably go a bit longer without accidents) and when we sleep, but he definitely prefers to sleep crated in a room where people or other pets are. He is potty trained. He does great playing and interacting with my dog and listens to corrections from her well. He’s not always a big fan of sharing balls/toys though - he will hold onto it but will trade for a treat or a different toy. He has great puppy energy and loves a good romp, but also settles in for a good nap. We haven’t walked him on a leash much, but he did pull when excited initially like a normal dog but then calmed down nicely. He has not tried to escape our fenced yard at all. He loves to snuggle, take naps on the couch, and play in our backyard. We don’t have cats or kids so we haven’t seen how he does with them, but he did seem very interested in the turkeys over the fence. He does bark pretty loudly when he’s nervous (like when a new person came into our house and he was in the crate), but overall seems to do well with men and women when he is not in the crate. He tolerated handling on his ears, paws and belly so well any time I have had to check him. He knows a few commands that we’ve found, such as sit, shake, stay, car ride, treat, and inconsistently drop it and lay down. Overall he really is SUCH a sweet, good boy!❤️

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Duke, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
