My story

Meet Athena and Slug! An affectionate, curious pair of three-month-old Domestic Shorthair kittens currently living in San Diego, CA, whose bond is as strong as their love for lap naps and playful adventures. These spirited siblings bring double the charm and twice the cuddles! Athena, a dazzling grey tabby with snowy white patches, is the mischief-maker of the duo. She’s the first to pounce on a toy, chase a bouncing ball, or sneak under a flour sack towel for a game of tickle-and-pounce. Her favorite pastime? Gently pawing at your phone or laptop screen, clearly, she’s got something important to say (or maybe she just wants to binge-watch nature videos with you). Slug, her brown tabby brother with a heart as soft as his fur, is the quieter half of the pair. Shy at first, he quickly melts into a puddle of purrs in your lap. Slug is especially fond of puzzle toys and he's the kind of kitten who will curl up with you for a nap and make it nearly impossible to get up… he might even meow a protest if you try! And here’s where things get really exciting: both Athena and Slug are advancing quickly with clicker training! Slug now runs to the sound of the clicker with joyful enthusiasm, and Athena is learning to follow his lead, getting quicker every day. This smart little duo has also learned to rest their paws on hands for treats, a quirky and incredibly useful behavior that makes nail trimming a breeze! Both kittens are incredibly social and well-adjusted, having grown up around toddlers and a dog. They’re playful, affectionate, and thriving in their current environment with plenty of interactive play and a wet food diet. They’re also litter-trained, up-to-date on vaccines, and received a clean bill of health at their vet visit on September 2, 2025. While they’re not yet spayed or neutered, they’ll need that care when they’re a bit older. Athena and Slug are looking for a home where they’ll be cherished as the brilliant, bonded pair they are. Somewhere with space to explore, plenty of time for play, and a caregiver who’s excited about using positive reinforcement to help them grow into even more remarkable companions.
