My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Misty! This sweet girl is a Westie/Maltese mix and is about 5 years old. She came to us with a heavy heart as her beloved owner entered hospice care and wanted to find her a loving new home. Misty is a calm and gentle little dog. It takes her about a week to warm up to new surroundings and people, which is perfectly understandable given that she was boarded for a while and then stayed with friends who tried their best to help her out. While in boarding, she did gain a few extra pounds, currently weighing 18 pounds. With a little love, a balanced diet, and more walks, we know she’ll shed those extra pounds and feel fabulous! Misty is nicely leash-trained and loves going on walks! When she’s feeling excited, you’ll see her turn into a little power walker, which is so much fun to see! While her foster home has a fully fenced yard, she doesn’t need one. Just keep in mind that during her adjustment period, you’ll need to help her with outdoor breaks, as she won’t ask to go out.  This lovely pup is so well-behaved; she hardly barks at all, making her a perfect fit for apartment living. Although she gets along fine with other dogs, she would really prefer to be the only pet so she can soak up all the love! She’s crate-trained but wouldn’t need to be crated at home. If you’d like, you can use a gate to keep her in a cozy space, but trust us, she’s such a good girl that it’s not necessary. We’re not sure how she feels about kids, but we think she’d be just fine around older, calmer children (13+), as she isn’t super playful. She does love toys but hasn’t shown us much interest in playing in her foster home just yet. One thing we do know is that she absolutely loves people food and gets super excited whenever someone is cooking! Until we kick off her diet, she’s sticking to dog food and treats. Misty has had a professional grooming session and looks absolutely adorable. She will need regular grooming in her new home, so keep that in mind! Misty dreams of a peaceful home where she can feel safe and loved. An older person or couple who can spend quality time with her, take her on little adventures, or just hang out together would be perfect. Or if you’re a homebody who enjoys strolls, she’d love you, too! We just want to see Misty happy in a forever home where she knows she’s finally found her place. Misty is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  She also had bloodwork done recently.  Misty's adoption fee is $475 We require that a martingale collar be used at the time of adoption. If you do not have a martingale collar, you can purchase one from Pixie Mamas for an additional $10. This requirement is in place to ensure the dog's safety and security.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 4, 2025, 3:20 pm
