My story

To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Khaos is a 5 year old neutered male cat. Here's what his foster volunteer says abou thim:   How would you describe the cat's general personality? Khaos is a large, sweet boy who likes to hide and also cause a bit of mischief. He likes to get into the area underneath the sink, open the drawers in the bathroom, and try to get into a container of greenies and maybe the bag of kitten food in the middle of the night! He also seems to like to play with his water bowl.   Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes! He will come up and rub against your legs and gently headbutt when he wants to be pet.   If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? Mostly likes head/cheek/jaw scritches. He gets overstimulated pretty easily when pet on the rest of the body.   Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? I haven't attempted the belly yet, so that may or may not be a trap.   Does the cat come on your lap? Not really.   Does the cat like to be held? He will tolerate it in short doses, but he doesn't seem to enjoy it.   Does the cat sleep in your bed? Not really.   Does the cat seek your attention? Occasionally! He is still a bit shy, but he will start meowing when he wants attention.   Does the cat like to play? He does!   What are the cat's favorite games and toys? He especially loves chasing after wand toys. He is not very athletic about it, but he will do a bit of jumping and chasing. I haven't seen him show a ton of interest in catnip toys and the like.   How vocal is the cat? He is pretty vocal! He likes to meow to check that you're still there.   What kinds of sounds does the cat make? He likes meowing! It's not especially loud, but he does like to go for a few minutes at a time.   Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Unfortunately, no. Despite being presented with other options, he seems to like the couch and rug(s) best.   Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes.   What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? I have been feeding him Purina Cat Chow twice a day.   Is the cat picky about food? A little bit! He doesn't seem to like wet food. Purina Cat Chow dried food seems to work well for him.   What is the cat's favorite treat? He has enjoyed Greenies, but he really seems to love Churu and other lickable wet treats.     Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? He has only ever done it once, when we were still getting to know each other and I pushed his boundaries a bit. Since he has come out of his shell, he hasn't.   Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No.   Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? No, but he has attempted it when I accidentally overstimulated him with petting.   Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)?   No.   To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? He seems shy around new people, but I think he could become much more social if given enough conditioning.   Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions?   Khaos seems to like being in quiet, dark places during the day and then come out and be much more active at night. He has also figured out how drawers and cabinet doors work. I have found him hiding underneath the bathroom sink before.   In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Khaos is such a large, sweet boy. His demeanor is overall very chill and relaxed. He doesn't demand a lot of attention or require a lot of stimulation (though of course, he still needs both!)   What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Khaos will take some time to feel confident in a new space with new people. It took at least two weeks for him to come out of his shell in foster. He just needs a bit of patience and then he will definitely blossom into a great companion cat. He also does like to be active in the middle of the night, so just be prepared for some strange noises and to make sure you don't enable the behavior.
