My story

My name is Ella and my middle name is CUTIE!   I am a 6 year old, spayed, 9 pounder described as a ball of energy and a joy.  My owner is working very long hours and does not feel they can give me the time and care I deserve.  If I have a yard available or am given ample opportunity to go on walks, I will pee and poop outside.  If not, I am pee pad trained and will use them if I am left alone for longer than I can wait.  I have lived in a house and an apartment environment and have coped better at being left alone when I lived in a house.  When I lived in an apartment, I would bark when left alone because I could hear people in the hall and talking at the elevator.  I am taking an anti-anxiety medication now to help me be calm and it would be a good idea to continue my medication during the transition into a new home.  Currently my human is home more often than not and I feel better about this - even when she has to go out and run errands.    I love car rides and am friendly with new people I meet but I only have limited experience with children.  I have not lived with other animals and, to be honest, dogs scare me a bit.  On leash I will go to the end of the leash and roar at other dogs to keep them away.  I have had a couple of good interactions with other dogs with very slow introductions.  I enjoy being handled and brushed.  Baths make me a bit anxious and I really don't enjoy having my nails clipped after having a bad experience with a groomer.   My ideal home would not be away for long hours and would not have attached neighbours who would be unhappy if I barked while I adjusted to new routines.  I have not lived with other animals so a home without them or willing to do slow, careful introductions would also suit me best.  August 30, 2025, 1:03 pm
