ShakiraWhew! I`m so relieved to be at the HSHC. Even though I had an owner, upon arrival, I appeared to be a long-time stray. I am skinny; I`ve lost most of my fur in the lower portion of my body due to flea allergies, and I have had ear infections in both ears. My owner surrendered me to the shelter on August 7 because he didn`t have time to take care of me. Well, the HSHC has been doing just that. I`ve been receiving a dietary supplement to improve my skin and coat, and my ear infections have been resolved. I moved into a Condo a couple of days ago, and it is so luxurious! I have three levels, a cozy little Kasa, regular meals, a private litter box, and loads of attention from staff and volunteers. The interviewer lady (IL) paid a call yesterday, and she quickly figured out how I got the name Shakira. Even though my black coat is very thin, and my tail is so slender, I shake my tail all the time. If I had hips, they`d shake too! I was so excited about having her visit me that I hopped around giving her head butts and leaning toward her for ear scratches. She giggled when she saw how my tail nearly vibrated. She told me that I am a sweetheart with a loving personality. She also said she is worried that, because I look so unkempt, people might skip right by me. And she thinks that would be a big mistake because I am such a lovable little girl. In one report, it says I am 2-years-old and another says due to my oral health, I am 4. I think I am still a youngster, in need of TLC and a good diet. All I can say is I love humans, and I would like to have one of my own. 8-26-25
