My story

Meet Taz! A loyal and lovable approximately three-year-old Neapolitan Mastiff currently living in Ontario, CA, whose gentle heart is tucked inside a towering 130-pound frame of blue-gray velvet and a splash of white on his chest. Taz is the kind of companion who turns heads on walks, not just because of his size, but because of the joyful energy he brings along with every stride! A huge fan of fetch and soaking up affection, Taz adores his people and is happiest when he's surrounded by love and attention. While he hasn’t had formal training, he’s sharp, responsive, and eager to bond, making him a wonderful candidate for positive reinforcement and basic manners classes. Taz is currently living in a home with several other pets, including cats and small dogs, but it's not the best fit. He needs a home where he can stretch out, thrive, and relax without feline temptations. He’s not cat-compatible and has a strong prey drive. He has, however, lived peacefully with larger dogs before, including a female English Bulldog and another male Mastiff. While he’s shown some resource guarding around food with male dogs, he’s done well when fed separately. With thoughtful management, his social side really shines. This big-hearted guy does come with a few quirks. He’s car-anxious (think drool, a bit of motion sickness, then nap mode) and not a fan of loud grooming tools like blow dryers. He also isn’t quite aware of how massive he is, so he can be a bit clumsy with his enthusiasm. Because of his size and strength, Taz will need a highly secure yard (7-foot fencing) and a caregiver who can confidently handle a giant breed. Taz is fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped. What he needs now is a spacious, cat-free home with a strong and loving guardian ready for a giant who’s equal parts cuddle bug and playmate. Are you ready to share your world with a massive bundle of love who’s looking for a new beginning? To learn more about adopting Taz, please reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Taz, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
