My story

Hi, I’m Rosie… and I know what you’re probably thinking: everyone wants the puppies. They’re bouncy and new, with their whole lives ahead of them. But here’s the thing—I already know how to love you. I’m 12 years old, a 70 lb hound mix with soft eyes and a heart that still beats fast when I see someone coming my way. I don’t need training, I don’t chew shoes, and I don’t ask for much. What I do ask for is simple: a place to lay my head, a gentle hand to rub my belly, and someone who will let me walk beside them for however much time I have left. I still enjoy long walks. I still roll over for belly rubs. I still greet everyone like they’re already a friend. But more than anything, I want to spend my senior years wrapped in the comfort of a home—not a kennel—knowing I am loved. Puppies may steal the spotlight, but dogs like me… we love without hesitation, without condition, and without end. If you give me the gift of a family, I promise I’ll spend every day reminding you that you gave a senior dog her dream come true. No obligation, but it reserves your place in line on the list. The shelter will contact individuals as they appear on the list. Ask about adoption transportation assistance if you do not live in the local area. The adoption fee is $95 and you receive certificates for $50 towards spay/neuter and $10 towards rabies vaccine if not already done. All dogs are heartworm tested, receive a DHLPP, flea and tick treatment, a bordetella vaccination and are dewormed.
