My story

Ahoy! Avast! Get ready to say "aye aye, Captain!" to our best matey, Captain Jack! The Captain was found outdoors in a colony and walking incredibly unusually, hopping on one back leg while the other sticks out straight underneath him. Fearing an injury, the caretaker rushed our Captain to an emergency vet, fearing a leg injury. However, these worried landlubbers underestimated the resilience of a true pirate, as Captain Jack had indeed sustained a broken leg far in the past, and is now healed! X-rays and gait analysis showed a healed fracture close to the pelvis, causing his leg to stick out the way it does, but doctors agree there is no need for amputation or concern for ongoing complications, as he can still intermittently put pressure on the leg and use his foot as needed. Like a true man of the seas, the Captain does not let his disability slow him down! He can easily hop along chasing toys, climb up on the cat tower, and is perfectly adapted to life with his peg leg. As for hobbies, don't let his crew mates know, but Captain Jack is a total sap for human affection and love! He will hop around purring, nuzzling, and even climb into people's laps for a better head scratch - shiver me timbers! In the shelter, you will often find Captain Jack perched on his bed like a crow's nest, meowing for any scalawag passing by to pay attention to him! We know that in a home, he will be a loyal and loving companion - lest he have to walk the plank! Please call (845) 414-9700 to learn more about Captain Jack, or come meet him today at 65 Fireman's Memorial Dr, Pomona NY 10970 Thursday - Tuesday after noon!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Captain Jack, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
