My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $700 Hoodie | 1–2 years old | 17 lbs | Loyal, cozy sidekick   Some dogs are playful, some are cuddly, and some are as comforting as your favorite sweatshirt. Meet Hoodie — the pup who’s as soft, warm, and reliable as pulling on a hoodie fresh from the dryer.   Hoodie was rescued from the shelter, where his shy, gentle spirit caught our hearts. Once in foster care, he blossomed into the perfect “velcro dog.” He starts his day with a quick trip outside through the doggie door and breakfast at 7 a.m. Then he’s ready to be your shadow, following you from room to room, curling up nearby while you work, read, or binge-watch. He’s equally happy joining you for a nice long walk or snoozing at your feet indoors. At night, he sleeps peacefully in the bedroom — either in his own bed or right by your side.   Personality-wise, Hoodie is mellow, affectionate, and gentle- once you have earned his trust. He is initially quite shy with new people. Once he trusts you, he leans into you for hugs like he’s trying to melt into your lap, and he’ll quietly keep you company all day long. He loves attention but isn’t demanding — just grateful to be included in whatever you’re doing. He is shy when meeting new people, but with tasty treats and patience, he warms up quickly. He is currently fostered with two other dogs and takes his cues from them, following their lead.   Hoodie is polite with other dogs (on and off leash). Around children, he’s gentle and tolerant, making him a lovely match for families with respectful kids. He has a moderate energy level — he can walk as long as you’d like, but he’s not bouncing off the walls when at home.   His leash manners are steady and relaxed, though he perks up with excitement when spotting another dog. He’s fully housetrained, trustworthy in the house, and uses the doggie door without a hitch. No crate needed. He doesn’t chew or dig, and he rarely (if ever) barks — though he does have a funny habit of carrying shoes outside with him. Not to chew them, just… for moral support.     What makes Hoodie special? His rare mix of loyalty, quietness, and sweetness. He’s the dog who wants nothing more than to be your sidekick, your comfort, your cozy “hoodie.”August 19, 2025, 12:27 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Hoodie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
