Maxine

My story

Maxine is a 1-year-old, 6-pound female tortoisehell from the streets of NYC. When we first met Maxine, she was a hardworking single mom of five!  She held down a job as a bodega cat while nursing five kittens from her tiny six-pound body.  She was a loving, protective mom who occasionally needed some alone-time under the avocados.  After the last of her kittens found a loving home, she requested and was granted early retirement.  She is enjoying her new life of leisure, where her hobbies include gaining weight via 6 meals per day, making muffins, and affectionate head butting.   Maxine is a sweet, loving tortoiseshell cat who had a rough start to life.  Despite this, she is eager to meet and trust new humans.  She might be skittish at first, but she will warm to you.  She will even stand on her hind legs for pets.  She likes meeting new cat friends and will nose-kiss as a sign of friendship.  We don’t know how she feels about dogs or children, but we have never seen her hiss. As she gains weight and strength, she is remembering how to jump and play.  Maxine has seen and done a lot in her short life and she can’t wait to settle into her forever home.  Vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies.
