My story

DOB: Feb 25, 2024 Prim is a delicate soul who's still learning that the world- and the people in it- can be safe. After a rough start to life, she's understandably wary, choosing to observe everything from the quiet safety of her cozy hiding spot. She watches everything closely, especially her brave sister Katniss as she interacts with people. And lately, there's been a small breakthrough: Prim has started to gently sniff and outstretched finger. With patience, respect and a calm environment, Prim has the potential to feel secure enough to begin her own journey toward trust. Prim is a quiet, sensitive girl who's learning to feel safe in a world that hasn't always been kind. After a hard start to life, she's extremely cautious around people and prefers the safety of her cozy cat bed tucked away in the corner of her sanctuary space. She spends most of her time there, carefully observing everything with watchful eyes. Prim is not yet comfortable moving about when humans are present- she prefers to eat, drink, and use the litter box in peace and privacy, when the coast is clear. Prim and her sister Katniss were rescued from a hoarding situation in which they sadly didn't receive love, affection, socialization, or enough food. They bonded with each other, and we are so proud that they are learning to trust how wonderful life is in a regular home. Prim and Katniss need to be adopted together. Prim will be even more scared when first moved into her forever home, but with time and gentle patience, and watching her sister Katniss, she will slowly start to feel at home. These sisters need to be started in a small "sanctuary room" such as a small spare bedroom. They need a room that is small, where they have cozy beds set up, but no places where they can go to hide. They need to feel safe, but still be able to have humans visit them. In time, with a lot of trust, they will be able to integrate into a home. Special note from my foster family: We love Prim and Katniss. We have seen them come so far! Even though Prim still has a very long way to go, she actually used to bolt every time we were near. Now, she quietly watches us from her secure corner bed. She is also accepting the gentle approach of a finger being held up to her nose. Thank you for giving two best friends a loving home together! Our adoption fee for an adult bonded pair is $175 per cat, versus our standard fee of $225 per adult cat.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Prim, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
