My story

Name: DillonBreed: Doodle Age: 10 yearsGender: MaleSize: Large – 30kgAbout Dillon:Dillon is a sweet senior boy who has had his world turned upside down. His owner could no longer care for him due to health issues, and now Dillon is looking for a second chance. He can be quite fearful, especially in his kennel, and will need someone who understands that trust takes time. Once he’s on leash, his confidence starts to show—he follows along nicely and enjoys exploring at his own pace. Recently, he’s begun to play in the yard with staff and volunteers, showing us glimpses of the happy, curious dog he’s meant to be. Dillon is a gentle soul who just needs patience, kindness, and stability to fully shine.Ideal Home:Dillon will do best in a calm, quiet home with someone who can give him the time and space he needs to settle in. A patient adopter who understands that progress may be slow at first will be the perfect match. He seems quite interested in other dogs and may benefit from the companionship of a calm, confident canine friend. His compatibility with cats is unknown. Dillon would likely be happiest in a home without small children, as too much activity may overwhelm him.Training and Skills:Dillon is house-trained and walks nicely on leash. With consistency, he’ll continue to gain confidence and blossom.Favourites:Exploring new places on his daily walksSpending quiet time in the yardEarning trust through gentle affection and patienceDislikes:Being confined in his kennel (this is where he feels most unsure)Sudden changes or overwhelming environmentsHealth Information:Dillon is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped.Adoption Fee: $225This includes his vaccinations, microchip, and neuter surgery.Additional Notes:Dillon is a work in progress, but he has already shown us how resilient and loving he can be. With the right person by his side, he will continue to grow in confidence and enjoy his golden years with security and comfort. A fenced yard would be a bonus for him to safely explore. How to Adopt:If you’re interested in adopting, please visit us at 107 McLaughlin Road, Lindsay, Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am–6 pm, contact us by email at info@hskl.ca or call 705-878-4618.
