My story

Pozole is a 3-year-old, 9 lb chihuahua with a heart as big as his ears. His journey hasn’t been easy — this little guy was rescued from a life of neglect and hardship, where he lived in a garage and suffered abuse. Understandably, he was cautious of people at first.But with the patience and love of his foster family, Pozole has blossomed. He’s learned that humans can be kind, and now he thrives with everyone in the home. Though he may still be a little cautious with new men and children, once he knows he’s safe, he’s a loyal, snuggly companion. He especially loves curling up in bed — whether it’s with his humans or his furry foster siblings.Pozole is housebroken, affectionate, and happiest when he’s near his people. He’s still working on remembering that dog food is for dogs (and people food is for people!) but he’s making progress every day.Because of years of untreated neglect, Pozole developed dry eye, a condition that requires daily prescription eye drops for life. He’s adjusting well to his care routine, and with his treatment, he’s comfortable and thriving.Pozole is ready to leave his past behind and start fresh with a forever family who will cherish him.
