My story

Zion is a sweet 1-year-old pit bull who’s ready to start a new chapter in life. He came to us after his owner became homeless, and while it’s been a big change for him, he’s been showing us what a loving and loyal companion he can be. Zion can be a little shy when first meeting men, but with some patience and gentle interaction, he warms up quickly. He enjoys playing with friendly female dogs but feels uncomfortable around male dogs, so a home without them would be best. Zion has lived with teenagers and older, has no known history with cats, and appears to be house trained. If you’re looking for a devoted companion with a sweet heart and a little dash of shyness, Zion might be your guy. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
