Tony is fuzzy tri colored puppy who was born 6-17. At his vet appointment this week he tipped the scale at 10# and is the biggest pup of the litter. We sent in a DNA sample for testing and there were a few surprises. Tony is an Australian Cattle Dog, Pembroke Welch Corgie, Border Collie, German Shepherd, Australian Shepherd, Miniature American Shepherd, Siberian Husky, Malamute, Labrador Retriever Poodle. Well, in rescue you get ‘hybrid vigor’. He and 4 siblings were surrendered by a family in a rural area who felt they would be unable to find them good permanent homes. He was in good health when he was surrendered to PUP. Tony is living in a foster home with other puppies and an adult dog that is providing adult supervision. He is playful and is beginning to enjoy time in the wading pool. He is going outside to play and potty and is using newspapers in the house to do his business. The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Tony has been vet checked, vaccinated and de-wormed. He will need two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. His required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done at 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that he be altered at 6 months. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Tony O, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
