My story

Ellen Sue is fuzzy black and white puppy who was born 6-17. At her vet appointment this week she weighed 8# and is one of the smallest pups in the litter. We sent in a DNA sample for testing on her brother Tony, and there were a few surprises. It showed Australian Cattle Dog, Pembroke Welch Corgie, Border Collie, German Shepherd, Australian Shepherd, Miniature American Shepherd, Siberian Husky, Malamute, Labrador Retriever Poodle. We believe she will be a mid-size dog when she is full grown but that is best guess. Her adopter should be prepared to love her if she is larger or smaller than predicted. She and 4 siblings were surrendered by a family in a rural area who felt they would be unable to find them good permanent homes. She was in good health except for some skin problems when she was surrendered to PUP. Her coat now looks nice and healthy. Ellen Sue is living in a foster home with other puppies and an adult dog that is providing adult supervision. She is playful and is beginning to enjoy time going outside to play and potty, and is using newspapers in the house to do her business. The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Ellen Sue has been vet checked, vaccinated and de-wormed. She will need two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. Her required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done at 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that she be altered at 6 months. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested.
