My story

As his name implies, Astro is out of this world! This boy will keep you laughing with his silly antics and make you feel loved with his affectionate nature. He just can't get enough pets, especially between his ears, on his neck and by his tail, but he's not a rib guy. Astro is selective when it comes to who can hold him. Maybe you'll be the lucky one in your family! He also likes to screen visitors for you and will take precautions such as running background checks and waiting until they've been around multiple times. Mama told him not to meow to strangers. Astro has done well with the children he lived with, ranging in age from 6 to teens, but we don't know if he has had any experience with cats or dogs. He's very much an indoor kitty and is even suspicious of the outdoors. Hey, he knows when he's got it good. He likes to spend his recreational time swatting at wand toys, so stock up before you bring this boy home. Looking for your next best friend? Astro could be your purrfect match! Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter. (Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available on Saturdays and during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.
