My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $750 August “Auggie” | 6 Months Old | Aussie Mix | 30 lbs   Meet Auggie, the definition of a happy-go-lucky best friend. Rescued from a shelter, this 6-month-old Aussie mix is already proving himself to be the kind of dog who wins hearts everywhere he goes.   Auggie starts his mornings when the rest of the house wakes up — around 7 a.m. on weekdays, and he’ll happily sleep in on weekends until a human stirs. His days are a cozy mix of hanging out by his people’s side, snuggling up with the resident dogs, and playing in the yard. He’s a true velcro dog, always ready to follow you from room to room and pop by for a kiss or a scratch behind the ears.   He’s currently living with a pack of dogs ranging from 30 to 95 lbs (plus a daily-visit Boxer bestie) and gets along with everyone. Auggie also met a couple of cats and handled it with calm curiosity, no chasing or fuss. While he hasn’t lived with kids yet, his gentle, friendly nature suggests he could be a great fit for a family home.   Auggie is a perfect blend of playful and relaxed — he’ll chase a ball with enthusiasm, then happily flop down for cuddle time when the fun is done. He walks politely on leash, is fully potty trained, and is learning to use a doggy door. He’s not a fan of sleeping in a crate, preferring a comfy dog bed where he can stretch out.   What makes Auggie truly special is the way he so clearly appreciates love and care — his foster says you can just tell he’s grateful. He’s ready to give that love back tenfold to a family who will make him part of their pack.   If you’re looking for an affectionate, easygoing companion who’s as happy to go on adventures as he is to snuggle on the couch, Auggie might just be your perfect match.August 14, 2025, 2:13 pm
