My story

Meet Moana! Named after the adventurous Disney princess, Moana embodies every bit of her namesake’s meaning — brave, determined, and ready to explore the world. This little “Southern Belle” hails from Texas and, despite a rough start in life, has blossomed into a happy, loving pup. At just under 4 months old and weighing about 24 pounds, Moana is a low-rider beauty with a silky black coat that’s growing in beautifully. She adores the outdoors, whether she’s chasing her tennis ball, playing with other dogs, or stretching out in the sunshine. She’s playful and social, enjoying the company of canine friends of all sizes, and she’s even been spotted showing her “momma dog” side by grooming her foster’s older pups. Moana is doing great with potty training, with only the occasional accident if her signal to go out is missed. She’s crate trained, sleeps through the night, and has a big appetite for both food and life’s adventures. She rides well in the car, has experienced her first “pup cup,” and loves being part of whatever her humans are doing. This sweet girl is smart, treat-motivated, and already knows “sit” while working on “wait” and “stay.” She’s gentle when taking treats, loves her dog beds and soft blankets, and is an A+ snuggler — equally happy in your lap, your recliner, or curled up with other dogs. Moana is ready to bring her playful spirit, loving personality, and zest for life to her forever home. She is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, dewormed, and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. She’ll be ready for her rabies vaccine in mid-August. If you’re looking for a sweet, social, and affectionate puppy who’s full of personality, Moana is your girl! Our standard adoption fee is $375 if paid by cash or check, or $385 if paid by credit card (which includes a $10 processing fee). This fee covers spay/neuter surgery when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, and microchipping. In order to be considered for adoption, we require a fully completed application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with your entire family. Please note that submitting an application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee approval—it simply allows us to begin the review process. If you are interested in adopting or would like additional information, please email us at adopt@safehavendogsIL.org to request an application. Keep in mind that the breed and size listed in each dog's biography are our best educated guesses and are not guaranteed. Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse the adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant for any reason.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Moana, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
