My story

MEET LUNA! This adorable petite pittie is named Luna! Luna came to the rescue from Philly's animal control shelter after being picked up as a stray by their Animal Police Officers. Luna was emaciated, missing a lot of hair, and severely anemic. She had clearly been trying to fend for herself for some time. Almost an entire year has passed since then and her rescue is now a distant memory. Now that Luna has fully recovered, she's ready to find the family of her dreams! Luna is now around 12 years old and living her best life in foster care where she is living with other dogs, a cat, and older children. She's now at a healthy weight, has a full coat, and looks like an entirely new dog. It didn't take long for Luna to warm up to her foster family and begin to blossom after the shelter. It was clear that she likely hadn't been exposed to a lot of the basic joys in a dogs' life like going for on-leash walks, playing with toys, and using stairs. Luna has really transformed into a well-rounded and easy-going girl thanks to her foster family. Luna can still be a little aloof when meeting new people and takes some time before she'll show you her sweet little personality but once you're "in", she'll be by your side for life. What Luna is clear about is how much she loves other dogs. She really gravitated to her canine foster siblings and recently happily welcomed another new foster dog. We think Luna is the type of dog who must live with another dog for her to truly feel at ease. Luna is sweet and gentle around the cat and great with the older kids in her foster home. Are you looking for a second or third dog? Need a buddy for your pets? Luna could be the girl for you! Luna is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. She has been fully vetted since coming to the shelter and has fully recovered from her time as a stray. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Interested in adopting her? Visit cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt LUNA, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
