My story

Meet Javi (“Ha-vee”) !! This sweet boy is a near perfect addition to any family. He is a loyal, loving and already trained happy boy. He doesn’t dig or try to escape like many hounds and he’s also not very vocal. An overall really good boy. Javi is a 5 year old, male, beagle mix. He weighs 35 pounds and is full grown. He is already neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He is heartworm negative and on preventatives. Javi has been great to have in the home. He is doing really well with his training and manners. He is potty trained and has not had any accidents. He is crate trained aside from some initial whining when first put in. He has done good in the car. He is new to leash training but doing fairly well. He does still pull sometimes. He listens very well and is generally very cooperative. He comes right in when you call him. He did great with meeting all the dogs in his foster home. He’s with small and large dogs, senior and playful dogs. He’s great with them all. He loves to run around the yard with another playful dog but also leaves them alone when they are done playing or don’t want to play. He can sometimes be vocal when playing. We have been working on training for that and he has been doing really well with playing quietly. Javi isn’t fostered with cats so we are not sure how he would do. He’s also been wonderful with children. He is a very gentle and loving dog. If you get him really hyped up be may gently jump on you but its fairly rare that he does that anymore. He is generally very gentle and careful with children. He blends well into most family settings. He has a medium energy level so far. He has no trouble staying crated during a full work day. He loves being outside and playing but hes also a clingy guy that wants to be near you anytime he can. His energy needs are easy to manage. Javi has been fairly quiet for a hound breed. He rarely barks. When he does bark it’s typically when he’s outside and hears someone approaching the yard. A quick “no” and he stops. He does whine a lot when he wants something but it’s fairly short lived before he gives up. Mostly when he’s first kenneled or if he’s outside alone. He is super happy and loving. He enjoys all the attention he can get. Javi has not shown any aggression at all. He’s been fine sharing food, treats and toys with both humans and other dogs. He likes to eat with you near him. We typically sit down and set the bowl beside the couch and tell him to eat and he will. He likes to give kisses and cuddle up with you after he’s done exploring. He’s fine to hang out in his kennel while you’re at work for the day as long as he gets some attention and playtime when you get home. We are very excited to see him find his perfect new home. He is a great guy and would be an easy first time dog or for someone who doesn’t have the time to train a puppy. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA.
