My story

Meet Lang !! This big gentle giant is very well behaved and looking for a great new home. He’s really an amazing guy. He was initially sold by a breeder. Unfortunately the family that purchased him chose to dump him on the street and he ended up at a shelter. The breeder went and got him back and asked us to take him and help him find a good home. Lang is a 4 year old, male Mastiff. He weighs approximately 120 pounds and is full grown. He will be neutered, updated on vaccines and microchipped as part of his adoption. He is Heartworm negative and on preventatives. Despite his larger size he’s a fairly easy dog to manage. He’s got a medium energy level. He is calmer in the house and only gets super energetic when playing with other dogs. He enjoys some good cuddle time. He’s happy to hang out with you and lounge or go out for a walk. He loves water and to play ball as well. His overall good manners and behavior make him an easy guy to have around. He is a very sweet boy that listens well. He is a big sensitive guy that just wants a family to love. He can be shy at first and needs a few days to fully adjust to a new place. Like most mastiffs it is hard for him to lose homes/ families and be bounced around. Once Lang warms up to his new place and feels safe, he is just the sweetest boy. He listens very well and has good manners. Very well rounded boy. Lang has done great with dogs. He does need time to a slow introduction to new dogs he meets and then he’s wide open and playful. He loves to play and gets very excited when he does. We do not have him fostered with children however, his last home had a seven-year-old and he is said to do wonderful with kids. We do not know how he would do with cats. He has been doing fantastic with his potty training. He’s great about crate training. He is good on the leash and good on car rides. He is also good with basic commands such as sit down and come. Overall he listens so well. The breeder said he enjoys being groomed and pampered. While we would not consider Lang to be an escape artist, he did jump a 6ft fence on his first day here. He was not adjusted to his foster mom and got scared when she went out in the yard to bring him in. He didn’t go far and eventually came to her. We don’t think this behavior will be a problem once he settles and feels safe. We do know he doesn’t like to be alone outside and wants another dog or person out with him. He’s a big sensitive guy. Mastiffs are sensitive and do take time to adjust so please be patient and understand if you adopt him. Lang has no issues sharing food, treats and toys with other dogs or people. He does not beg and will leave you alone while you are eating. He’s never been given people food and do to this has good manners about it. Mastiffs are large dogs which means their overall care is more expensive. Aside from food costs they have a larger weight for Heartworm and flea preventions and any medications needed. Please ensure your family is financially stable and prepared for those additional costs. They also drool A LOT! They can’t help it with those saggy jowls. They are a sensitive breed so please thoroughly consider all of this before brining him into your home. It is very hard on them to be returned and for that to happen again over something we already made you aware of up front in the post would be terrible. If you’re looking for a big guy that is easy going and super loyal then he might be your guy! Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message us directly at villagedogresource@gmail.com with questions or to get an application. To see more photos visit our Facebook page and messaging there for an application will get a faster response.‼️

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lang, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
