My story

Gretchen came to us from our local animal care and control. She came with 4 other dogs covered in feces, urine and mats for days. Even worse there were 5 more that went to another rescue. All from the same home with a story that is unknown. Gretchen is estimated to be between 4-5 years old and has been doing so well in her foster home. Her foster home has resident dogs that she loves being around. We would love for her to find a home with another confident dog that she is able to confidently continue coming out of her shell but this can be a discussion for the right fit. This is because she also bonds with humans intensely so far. She loves to watch her person and enjoys a good lap to lay in. She has children in her forever home and though there are no concerns, she is on the shyer side with them so children should be confident and respectful of her boundaries. She enjoys eating in her kennel or her own space so that she does't feel threatened by another dog, I'm sure this goes back to the situation that she was in prior to coming into our care. If you think you are a patient, calmer home that can give her the love and time that she deserves, apply directly here. If you have any questions before applying please email adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org. Gretchen's adoption fee includes her spay, up to date vaccines and preventatives, heartworm negative and microchip. She is currently being fostered in a Chicagoland surrounding area and is adoptable anywhere in Chicago (or within a 3 hour radius).

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Gretchen, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
