Meet Barry! A playful and affectionate almost eight-year-old Domestic Short Hair currently living in Tucson, AZ, whose silky black coat and green eyes are a striking combination of mystery and charm. Barry’s personality is a delightful mix of shy sweetness and unexpected bursts of kitten-like energy. While he may take a little time to warm up to new faces, once he does, he reveals a world of quirky fun! Tearing up newspaper like a feline artist, playing fetch with impressive enthusiasm, and spending hours birdwatching from the window. He’s not much for laps, he prefers to give affection on his terms, but he’ll happily curl up beside you or knead a fuzzy blanket into a biscuit masterpiece! Barry is a peaceful soul who thrives best in a calm, loving environment where he can be the center of attention. With four feline roommates in his current home, he's made it clear that he’d much prefer to be the only cat child. He’s been showing signs of stress with other cats, territorial behaviors like hissing and swatting have crept in, and he's even resorted to stress marking on countertops and tabletops. But this behavior is entirely driven by his environment, and with the right peaceful setup, Barry is poised to blossom into the loving companion he truly is. Weighing around nine pounds, Barry is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all his vaccinations. His perfect match is a patient and affectionate caregiver who can offer him the quiet, pet-free life he needs. He’d do especially well in a home with a predictable routine and someone who respects his boundaries while enjoying his affectionate quirks. Barry is more than just a lucky black cat, he’s a little shadow with a big heart, ready to fill your home with soft purrs, silly antics, and quiet companionship.
