My story

Binx is the total package — sweet, snuggly, and just the right amount of silly! Her previous family describes her as super friendly, playful, and affectionate. She’s a certified lap cat and couch potato who’s always down to cuddle up for a movie night or soak up attention while you relax. Binx loves wand toys, scratching posts, and finding the perfect sunny spot for an afternoon lounge. She’s done great with kids, lived happily with a male cat, and even got along well with a small dog. She also enjoys safe outdoor time on an enclosed porch — the perfect way for her to take in the fresh air while staying safe. Just a heads up: Binx has a habit of chewing on cords, so be sure to tuck them away before she gets curious! If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who will keep you company on the couch and fill your home with warmth (and maybe a few zoomies), Binx is ready to be your new best friend. Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter. (Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available on Saturdays and during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.
