My story

Meet Snowstorm — named after a weather event, but let’s be clear: the only thing she’ll accidentally freeze is your ability to do anything productive once she locks eyes and decides it’s cuddle time. She’s that overly friendly morning person we all secretly resent but somehow adore. You know the one — always chipper, always ready, always front and center like, “OH HI! YOU’RE AWAKE! LET’S LOVE EACH OTHER FOREVER.” Snowstorm is a professional greeter, part-time attention sponge, and full-time emotional support floof. She’s discovered that cuddles are, in fact, life’s greatest achievement, and she’s now on a mission to receive all of them. From everyone. At once. So, if you’ve been dreaming of a dog who worships the ground you walk on, meets every day like it’s a surprise party in her honor, and considers personal space a cute suggestion—not a rule—then congratulations: your blizzard of affection has arrived. Applications now open. Cuddles guaranteed. Productivity not included. Snowstorm is a 5-6 month old female great pyrenees mix and one of fourteen (yes, FOURTEEN) puppies from our Natural Disaster litter who blew into rescue after someone got in way over their head with dogs. Thankfully, with the help of a local shelter, we were able to scoop up this weather system of wiggly butts and give them the fresh start they deserve. Snowstorm herself is the morning greeter of the bunch—always first to the gate like, “Good morning! Have you come to love me?” She’s sweet, playful, and slowly learning that life isn’t just about surviving—it’s about belly rubs, breakfast that actually shows up, and naps without worry. Watching her blossom is like watching an actual snowstorm melt into sunshine—if sunshine had paws and a serious thing for chin scratches. Snowstorm may have a dramatic name, but when it comes to other dogs, she’s more of a frosty fun machine than a Category 5 meltdown. She adores her puppy siblings—playing, wrestling, gnawing on bones like it’s a full-time job, and testing out every single toy like she’s on a one-dog product review team. Cats? Honestly, she gives them about as much attention as a teenager gives a salad. They’re there, they exist, and if one wants to play, great. If not? Moving on. She’s got toys to play with and existential puppy thoughts to ponder. Kids? Snowstorm has been around a few small humans during visits and handled it like a polite house guest—mildly intrigued, a little unsure, but overall respectful. She's still working on trusting all humans (because, well... past trauma and general human incompetence) but the curiosity is there. You can practically see her tiny brain going, “Hmm… small people… possibly snack providers?” And with new adults, she’s doing that classic “I want to love you but I’m not totally sure you’re not a villain” routine. She’ll hang back for a beat, maybe two, but it doesn’t take long before she’s inching closer, tail wagging like it’s trying to convince the rest of her to be brave. She wants the cuddles, the pets, the praise—she’s just still figuring out that not all humans are the worst. On the official Energy Level Scale, Snowstorm scores a 7 out of 10—which means she’s somewhere between a curious baby goat and a playful baby bear. She’s got plenty of bounce and joy brewing under the surface, even if she’s still working up the courage to let it all out. Right now, she’s kind of like a toddler in a superhero cape—ready to fly, but occasionally needs a little reassurance first. At heart, she’s an adventurer in the making. You can see it in her eyes—this gentle curiosity, this quiet excitement for what life could be. She’s still a little wary of the world (because, well, when you're one of fourteen puppies scooped up from a too-much-of-everything situation, that’s understandable), but with each day, she takes another brave step into the good stuff: soft beds, kind hands, and toys that don’t come with competition. Snowstorm is always the first one to greet her foster in the morning, wagging her tail. She’s happy, sweet, and absolutely melting as she discovers that humans aren’t so scary after all—especially when they come bearing cuddles and squeaky toys. Speaking of toys—she loves them. All of them. She plays, explores, and has that adorable puppy focus where she’ll be joyfully chewing on one thing while side-eyeing another, just in case it looks more fun. She hasn’t quite figured out the point of fetch (because why would you throw away something she just picked out?), but she’s getting there. She’d do just fine in an apartment with someone willing to help her burn off her zoomies through walks, playtime, and the occasional emotional support snuggle. A securely fenced yard would be a dream, but she’s flexible—as long as she’s included in your life and given time to keep growing into the dog she was always meant to be. Let’s be real for a second—Snowstorm didn’t come pre-installed with all the bells and whistles. She’s not an iPhone, she’s a puppy. And like all puppies, she comes with that classic “some assembly required” sticker. First up: socialization. Snowstorm didn’t exactly get the VIP puppy experience, so she’s still figuring out that the world is not actually a scary action movie. New people? Weird noises? Rolling suitcases? All a bit suspicious. So yes, you’ll need to gently expose her to the world. Training? Oh yeah, that too. Snowstorm is a blank slate. Not a college-ruled notebook, mind you—we’re talking Etch-A-Sketch at best. She’s smart and eager, but will need someone to keep showing her the ropes. Potty training? We're halfway there. She’s trying, but it’s a work in progress. If you’re the type of person who loses their mind over a rogue pee puddle, this may not be your girl. But if you can celebrate progress like it’s a Super Bowl touchdown every time she potties outside—you’re hired. And finally, let’s talk puppy-proofing—If your floor looks like a yard sale exploded or you own shoes you care about... maybe consider putting a few things out of reach. Not because she’s a chewer—she’s honestly been pretty polite—but because puppies are...well puppies. So, if you’ve made it this far and thought, “Wow, I really need a fluffy, loyal, cuddle-seeking sidekick who’s ready to bloom into her best self,” then good news—Snowstorm is accepting applications for her forever human. Fill out an adoption app at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app so we can send it to her foster family, who are currently acting as her emotional support humans. And fair warning: Snowstorm is not shipping herself to you via Amazon Prime. You’ll need to hop in your car, crank up the tunes, and make your way to Hutchinson, Kansas, to pick up this precious girl.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Snowstorm, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
