My story

Dallas came to ACCT Philly on August 5th after being found in Overbrook Park. The finder expressed that they couldn’t care for him but wanted to ensure he was safe and not left outside. While his past is unknown, Dallas has quickly shown that he’s eager to bond and ready to find his forever home. This young, grey-and-white cutie is a sweet and social boy with a lot of love to give. Though he was initially shy and a bit scared, Dallas has already made strides in showing off his affectionate and people-focused personality. He walks well on leash with just mild pulling, enjoys hanging out with volunteers, and even climbed into a lap for snuggles. Dallas has a playful streak but is still figuring out toys and new experiences—understandable for a pup who just arrived! With his gentle demeanor, willingness to learn, and growing confidence, Dallas is well on his way to being a fantastic companion. He would benefit from continued positive reinforcement and a home ready to offer him love, structure, and patience as he continues to adjust. Videos: Dallas hanging out in the yard: https://youtube.com/shorts/6YhjiAqXEUU?si=pg9slyB0WA-kUyH7 Behavioral Notes: Per volunteer 8/7: Dallas is a sweet boy who loves treats and hanging out with his human. He is easy to leash and seems friendly with other dogs he meets. He didn’t seem to interested in toys but knows sit and would come when called. Easy to return to his kennel. 10/10 good boy. 08/06/2025 Playgroup Notes: Nervous, aroused, social, curious, mounts. Push/pull and gentle/dainty play style, can be a bit obnoxious with mounting. SM, aloof at times Was also involved with an altercation with "Bubba" and it was unprovoked. 08/06/2025 Behavioral Eval: Kennel Presentation: Tail wags, ears up, front paws positioned onto the kennel door, soft eyes and barking when other dogs passed. Eyes on handler, appearing interested when spotting the leash. Leash Skills: Easy to leash, walked right towards the leash and right into the loop. Pulls moderately but responds well to course correcting. Relatively easy handleability. Interested in other dogs in kennels. Loose body language including tail wags and ears slightly perked up, relaxed hackles. Sociability: Approached me willingly and allowed pets all over, this included tolerating slight tail pulls and lifting up paws. Jumped up onto bench beside me and crawled into my lap. Play: Minimal interest in toys, investigated a ball after throwing and no interest in plushy or rope toys Dog Interaction: Tail wags and barking towards other dogs near by, pulling slightly on leash, whining. Return to Kennel: Easy to guide through main kennels, and only needed slight coaxing to go back into kennel, Easy to unleash and close gate. Medical Notes: 08/06/2025 Tech Exam: Brief Dog fight occurred during play group Assessment: Superficial scratches alongside left side of neck and on/around left ear A couple shallow puncture wounds on/around left ear Brief clip & clean around neck, scrubbed with chlorohex scrub Given Gabapentin 300mg PO once Plan: Start Amoxi-clav (250mg) 1 tablet BID PO x 5 days Start Carprofen (75mg) 1 tablet SID PO x 2 days 08/05/2025 Tech Exam: Intake - Medical Weight: 40.7 lbs Microchip Found?
