My story

Jewelz came to ACCT Philly on July 27th, 2025, after being found as a stray. From the start, Jewelz has shown a vibrant and social personality. He greeted staff with a wiggly body and loose, happy energy, allowing leashing without issue. As he’s settled in, he's shown a mix of exuberance and sensitivity—displaying joyful, puppy-like playfulness one moment and some nervousness the next. Jewelz is treat-motivated, loves to jump into play, and already knows “sit.” Volunteers describe him as a “sweet, strong, energetic boy” who can get mouthy when overstimulated but responds well to redirection. He’s made progress each day and is showing signs of being housebroken. He would thrive best in an adult-only home where he can continue to build confidence and work on his leash manners. Behavioral Notes Per volunteer 7/31/25: Jewelz is a sweet, strong, energetic boy. He was excited to be taken out, and easy to leash. He pulls hard through the kennel but was super friendly in the run and loved treats and playing with toys. He seems to partially know sit but needs more practice and focus. During play with a toy he got jumpy and started to get mouthy, but settled quickly when play was stopped. Good boy. 07/29/2025 Behavioral Eval: Jewelz was laying down on his bed with neutral eyes and came up to the front with a neutral body. i let him sniff my hadn't and he greeted me with a mid level wagging tail. i offered him a treat which he took very gently. he sniffed the leash curiously but was nervous as i tried looping him over head. i offered him another treat on the floor and looped him overhead. once secured he was a bit hesitant to come out but with some encouragement he came right out. outside he sniffed around curiously and was tolerant of handling on his back end as he ate some grass. once he was in the yard he jumped all over me and was super excited as i dropped the leash. he is super playful and can be a bit much but calms himself down when he is offered treats. he is a very handsome boy with lots of puppy energy. he took treats very nicely and knew sit. he nibbled at my face and begged for more treats. he had a dog meet and was very wiggly but quickly turned himself away and disassociated. going back into his kennel he became very submissive and dropped himself down on the floor with a wagging tail. he was very nervous to go into his kennel and needed some encouragement as i took a half step into the kennel blue 07/29/2025 Per staff was low growing and hard barking this morning 07/27/2025 Per staff very friendly and wiggly, loose body language.
