My story

Introducing Gulliver! (lovingly called Gully) Playful Affectionate Energetic Adventurous Personality: Gully is a Great Dane puppy with a larger-than-life personality. This sweet boy loves roughhousing with his foster Dane brother, playing with toys, and soaking up all the affection his people are willing to give. He's playful, snuggly, and already full of Great Dane charm. Socialness: Gulliver is learning that new people are safe and friendly, so slow introductions are important. He may bark at strangers on walks but quickly warms up when he sees that others are comfortable. He met one child and did well, but structured introductions are recommended, especially as he continues to learn boundaries and polite behavior. He’s been great with the adult Great Dane in his foster home and enjoys playing with dogs who match his energy. He does not have experience with cats, so slow and structured introductions will be needed. Likes: Being outside/going for walks Playing with dogs and toys Snuggling Tasty food Dislikes: Being told "no" Doesn’t enjoy coming inside on nice days Training: Gully is crate trained and sleeps in his kennel overnight. He also takes short breaks in the crate when overstimulated. He is housebroken and knows a few cues like “sit,” “lay down,” and “should we take a break?”—though consistency is still a work in progress. He responds enthusiastically to “Do you have to go potty?” He’s also shown some mild resource guarding at mealtimes, so he’s fed separately and by hand to create positive associations. He does get a little whiny during car rides—especially on the way to new places, but will usually sleep on the way home. *Gulliver will be attending some socialization classes prior to adoption. Please still reach out if you are interested in adopting him.* Health: Gulliver is healthy with no current concerns. Due to his age, his adoption contract will come with a neuter clause. Forever Home Wishlist:• A physical fence is required to keep this curious boy safe• A small to midsize yard is sufficient—but needs room to play and sunbathe• A home committed to continued training, especially around resource guarding• A family ready for puppy energy and willing to provide structure and enrichment• Due to Gulliver’s puppy behaviors, older children would likely be a better fit than younger ones• Apartment life is not a fit—he’s too vocal and needs more space• A dog companion would be a bonus, especially one who enjoys play Fun Fact: When Gully isn’t bouncing around the yard or wrestling with his toys, he loves to sprawl out and sunbathe—bonus points if there are sticks nearby for chewing! If you think Gulliver will be a great addition to your family, please reach out to us by following one of the options below. 1. If you have already completed the adoption or foster application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Gulliver’s Placement Coordinator at michelle@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2. If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Please visit https://www.thegreatdanerescue.com/adoption-application to complete an application and submit your $25 application fee to begin the process. After you have been approved, please reach out to Gulliver’s Placement Coordinator by emailing michelle@thegreatdanerescue.com. This young Dane is located in Minneapolis, MN. ##2442056##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Gulliver (25-065), please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
