Meet Rudder – The Ultimate Underdog Turned Superstar Our longest resident and one of our most rewarding journeys—Rudder is a 2-year-old, 50-pound mix of herder, Lab, and terrier. Equal parts athlete, cuddlebug, and cautious explorer, Rudder is now ready to find the forever family he deserves. From Shelter Scaredy to Snuggle King Found as a terrified stray and shut down in the shelter, Rudder has completely blossomed in his loving foster home. While he’s still shy at first, once he warms up (which doesn’t take long!), he’s all in—offering affection, loyalty, and lots of couch-time snuggles. He’s a Velcro dog who loves being close to his people. House Trained & Home-Ready Rudder is a gentleman indoors—fully house trained and respectful. He’s trusted with free access to the home and yard alongside his foster siblings when his humans are out, and he’s never destructive. He knows the house rules and follows them like a champ. Athlete in the Making Did someone say ball? Rudder is a natural fetcher, with lightning-fast reflexes and a return-to-your-feet delivery. His athleticism would shine in agility, flyball, or even dock diving—this guy has serious potential. But he’s just as happy with daily playtime and exploring the outdoors. Smart, Polite & Eager to Please Rudder already knows sit, stay, heel, and down—and he’s super treat-motivated, which makes training a breeze. He’s respectful, responsive, and learns quickly with gentle guidance. Dog Social… with a Side of Selective Rudder enjoys his foster dog friends and does best with dogs who match his calm play style. He is still working on his confidence when meeting unfamiliar dogs—especially on leash—but is progressing well with support and patience. He’d do well as an only dog or in a home with a respectful canine companion. This is also the best way to submit additional documents or information. We do keep applications on file for 90days in case the dog you apply for it already adopted or not the right fit simply email us to forward your application on to another dog of interest. Our dogs are in foster homes all over the Bay Area and all adopters are required to travel to the foster home to meet. We do not have a facility. No meet and greet can happen until application is completed. Our Commitment to Our Dogs Every dog in our care receives comprehensive veterinary care, including: • Spay/Neuter surgery • Microchipping • DHPP vaccination • Flea treatment and deworming • Rabies vaccination • Any additional vet care as needed The adoption fee for this dog is $100 serving as a non-refundable donation to help cover vetting, transport, and care costs. Adoption fees may vary based on specific dog and needs.
