My story

SharonPlease put yourself in my place. A 2-year-old stray cat, accompanied by five nursing kittens, is brought to the HSHC in mid-July. A cat that has had little to no contact with human beings is scared out of its wits. The kittens are now old enough to be separated from their mother. This little cat is placed in a two-room cage and expected to be outgoing and affectionate with all the people she encounters. It`s no wonder that she stays behind her litterbox or hides in her Kitty Kasa. She is totally bewildered and nervous about what has happened. Then on August 13, I was moved into a large, sun-filled room with other cats. I am glad to have more space, but I am still very shy and timid. It is comforting to be able to stay out of sight and watch what happens next. The interviewer lady (IL) kept coming around to talk with me, and she didn`t give up! First, I stared at her, breathing rapidly, and ignored her extended finger. I refused to sniff her. But today, as she sat right in front of my Kasa, I sniffed her fingers and finally allowed her to pet my head and neck. Believe it or not, it felt so good being touched with gentle hands. She told me I was such a pretty little girl with adorable, fluffy ear tufts. I could get very comfortable with the idea of being someone`s pet kitty and getting lots of neck rubs and chin scratches. If you can sympathize with my situation and understand that I will need plenty of time to feel settled, perhaps we could consider becoming roommates. 8-27-25
