My story

Meet Molecule – A Little Lapdog with a Big Heart and Gentle Soul Quick Facts: Breed: Chihuahua mix Age: 3 years Weight: 11 lbs (underweight – gaining gradually) House-Trained: In progress Crate-Trained: Not needed – does fine when left alone Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: No – adult-only home required Energy Level: Low to moderate Fence Required: No Special Traits: Excellent cuddler, prefers quiet handling, thrives with calm and patient training Why You’ll Love Molecule: Sweet, snuggly, and loves to curl up in your lap Gets along well with other calm pets Fine being left alone without a crate Low energy – perfect for a cozy companion lifestyle Has a gentle, curious personality Responds best to soft, patient, positive-reinforcement training Makes a loving shadow once he feels safe and secure About Molecule’s Breed: Chihuahua mixes are known for their loyalty, affection, and strong attachment to their favorite people. They often form deep bonds and thrive in calm, nurturing homes. With their small size and big personalities, they bring a ton of love in a tiny package. Molecule is no exception—he’s sweet, a little shy, and incredibly affectionate once he trusts you. Molecule’s Story & Personality: Molecule is a small guy with a lot of love to give, and he’s still learning how to navigate life in a home. At just 11 lbs and slightly underweight, he’s gaining strength and confidence each day. He’s not fully housebroken yet, but he’s improving quickly and can be left alone without needing to be crated. He does have some food resource guarding, so we are requiring an adult-only home with no children. Molecule also prefers women and is a little hesitant with men—but with slow, positive introductions, he can warm up just fine. He’s good with both cats and dogs and enjoys a peaceful, pet-friendly environment. Though he’s low to moderate in energy, Molecule is incredibly affectionate and loves nothing more than snuggling into your lap or relaxing by your side. He’s easygoing overall but needs a gentle, consistent approach to training. He responds well to quiet correction and will do best with someone willing to use clicker training or other soft, positive-reinforcement methods. Loud voices or rough handling are not a match for this sensitive little soul. Molecule’s Ideal Home: A calm, adult-only household Someone experienced with or open to gentle, non-verbal training methods A quiet home where he can build trust slowly Another calm pet would be fine (dog or cat) A snuggly human who appreciates a soft-hearted little companion Someone who understands that trust takes time—but is well worth the wait Ready to Give a Gentle Pup the Soft Landing He Deserves? Molecule is looking for someone to show him the world doesn’t have to be scary—that love can be calm, patient, and full of snuggles. With the right environment, he will thrive and return your kindness with deep loyalty and affection. If you’re looking for a quiet, loving lapdog to share your life with, Molecule might just be the perfect fit. Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. To ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. As part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, we require excellent veterinarian references and conduct virtual home visits. Additionally, your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We provide transportation by both land and air whenever feasible. All assessments regarding breed and age are conducted by licensed veterinarians. We look forward to assisting you in finding your perfect canine companion!August 1, 2025, 8:56 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Molecule, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
