My story

Introducing Fizz! Fizz is an Australian Cattle Dog-cross between 3 and 4 months old. His smooth, heeler coat means that he will be easy to groom and will stay cooler in the hot summer months than other breeds. Fizz is presently being fostered on acreage in Bend, Oregon, where he is getting exposed to the varied activities of ranch life. Like most every puppy this age, Fizz loves to romp and play, especially when his foster Dad is out moving the irrigation sprinklers each day. He has also been exposed to seeing and hearing the tractor, lawnmower, and pickups, as well as a big thunderstorm! Fizz has been around horses. He gets to barking at those big, strange-looking critters. But he is getting used to them and his alarms have been slowly subsiding. Like most other heelers on the planet, some day he might take to boldly chasing them across the pasture. With the weather being so nice in central Oregon he spends most of the day outside but comes in at night and sleeps in his wire crate. Housebreaking is still a work in progress, but he is getting better every day. Fizz has a pretty good recall—when not super-absorbed on something, like running after a horse or the cat. Fizz is friendly enough but does not seem to have the desire to develop the sort of strong bond with his human like his sister, Darcy. Fizz is very treat-motivated, which will be very helpful for training. He knows nothing of fetch at this point, but is taking some pointers from his big housemate, "Poppy." Occasionally, he will pick up a ball and play keep away. Be advised: Fizz is not going to be a couch potato. Expect him to need to blow off steam several times a day. Simply taking him for a walk after work and going camping now and then will not cut it. If you ignore his need to expend energy you will suffer the consequences. A bored, neurotic heeler is NO FUN!!! And often very destructive. By middle age he will start to slow down some and allow you to slack off a bit. Farms, ranches, large acreages, agility homes, horseback homes, cattle work, search and rescue, and other situations where he can thrive to his best potential will be best for his physical and mental health. We expect Fizz to be an "average-sized" heeler, topping out between 40 and 60 pounds by middle-age. Fizz is up to date on his vaccinations and has been wormed and microchipped. His adoption fee is $400. If you are interested in adopting Fizz and are pre-approved, please contact the adoption team at hunahapps@gmail.com. If you are not already approved, you can fill out an application here: http://herduneededahome.com/adopt-a-dog

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Fizz, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
