My story

Meet August S Wags, a young boy looking forward to a future full of fun and cuddles! August is a young boy with lots to learn, and luckily he is very treat motivated and eager to learn from you. He just needs a patient human who is willing to take the journey with him! August was found as a stray and brought to the shelter. He has shown some kennel stress since getting here and is really hoping to get into a quiet home where he can let his true personality shine. August is a social boy who loves to cuddle, and could use some tips on how to express his love in the best way! August S Wags is now available for adoption at ACCT Philly- you can meet him any day from 10am-6pm. Wags gets a new collar https://youtu.be/XzOBpVuXOaU Playgroup 8/4: Sweetly Girl, Parsnip, Francheska, August S. Wags https://youtu.be/tLbDwhF6uZ4 Behavior Notes: Volunteer 8/10/25: A fellow volunteer and I walked August s wags as our last walk last night 8/10/25. August greeted us at his kennel door and accepted treats nicely. He was easily leashed and we took him outside. He enjoyed a nice long walk and only about twice did he gently take a leash in his mouth as if he wanted to walk himself. Very cute! He did not pull on the leash at all. He accepted treats and pets from us with gratitude! His tail never stopped wagging! August S Wags has very soft fur and adorable white paws as if he were dipped in paint as the rest of his body is a beautiful chocolate brown. I hope the next time I’m in another volunteer and I can pair up again as we really enjoyed our time with August S Wags! He is a ton Of fun to spend time with. Staff 8/10/25: High excitability, Frantic leash biting, difficult to leash and walk, needs constant distraction or becomes fixated on leash, very mouthy and sporadic movements. Requires experienced handlers. Staff 8/7/25: Difficult for an aca to walk on his own, jumping and mouthing excessively. Per Volunteer 8/6/25: When I approached his kennel, he came right up to the door with a wagging tail, jumping up on the door. I opened up the kennel and slipped my leash inside and he did start to play tug with it. His paw got tangled so I took the leash out and tried it again. This time leashed him more easily, although he was still trying to push out of the kennel with his nose. Walking through the kennels, he’s zigzags quite a bit with pulling- was always able to guide him back to me. He is extremely treat motivated and was trying to sniff them out of my fanny pack the whole time. He is a bit snatchy with them and needs some training on how to best take treats out of your hand. Took pets from me all over and was soliciting them out, got up on the bench when I was up there to get some pets. He likes to sniff and run around the play yard and jump up on the bench. He showed some interest in toys and got easily distracted, but seemed to like when they squeak. When playing he got overstimulated and got mouthy with my ankle. I tossed some treats and he got distracted and stopped. Walking back into kennel he was pulling with a wagging tail. Went back into kennel no problem, was trying to push his snout of the door. Play group 8/4/25: VERY high energy, rough/rowdy play, constantly body slamming other dogs and jumping on their backs, pushy/rude play but friendly Per Staff 8/3/25: Tossed treats in the kennel to back him up from the door. He came forward and then started to touch the leash with his mouth, he came out and was easily distracted by treats. A second handler had her leash in her hand and he jumped and grabbed that and then let it go. Pulls hard outside, zig zags, jumps a lot. Grabby for food. Using a peanut butter pouch and a plush toy he did not attempt to bite the leash. Jumpy, zoomies mid level tail wags, ears back, friendly and excitable. Began jumping on me and biting the leash, when stopped with leash pressure he put teeth on my pant leg briefly and then let go and we walked him back inside double leashed. Experienced blue and recommending a low dose of trazadone to help reduce excitability. Per Staff 8/3/25: When ACA attempted to grab August for playgroup today he attempted to bite her finger in kennel. He did make contact but did not break skin. Changing to evaluate Per Staff 7/31/25 7:52p Young dog Still a puppy, very playful Jumps high, will hold leash in mouth when walking Skittish and afraid of shelter noise ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in.
