Meet Tank ACCT-A-162235 a 4 year old male who came to ACCT as a stray, Animal Protection Officers picked up on 4/18. APO noted that when they arrived the Police was onsite and noted that they could not entered because the dog was "aggressive but when our APO retrieved he was friendly with them and neighbors noted that he plays with all the kids on the block. While Tank is for lack of a better word....a tank, he is also the definition of gentle giant! Don't let his size fool you- you wants to love and be loved! He takes treats gently and will show you sit so nicely! He loves pets and he has plenty of surface area to take them :) Videos -- Patty Meets Tank: https://youtu.be/hTsGDrEXzhw Tank loves to play: https://youtube.com/shorts/OYVyZvEgz8k?feature=shared Tank the goof: https://youtube.com/shorts/90Z_z-kS9EU?si=l6pEz8hF13kRNgDw Behavior notes -- Per volunteer on 5/14: Tank was so calm in his kennel tonight and gave me a little tail wag and a head tilt as I walked by. Per Volunteer 4/23/24: Tank is a real giant sweetie with gorgeous blue eyes! He jumped a bit when I first took him out but then walked amazing on leash. Know sit! Peed right when he went out. Per Volunteer 4/21/24: Such a big goober! At first when I approached his kennel he hard barked at me and jumped on the door. It was definitely intimidating at first but I realized how loose and wiggly it was so I continued with attempting to leash. He allowed leashing easily and hopped right out with me! He's definitely a strong boi, he could use a harness as he pulls a big. Outside he showed me sit so many times and loved getting treats for it. He took treats so gently! He can be jumpy and is a big lover, he doesn't seem to know his size so I'd recommend no small humans. Silly boy with toys, he liked to shake them around and he would fetch them back to me. He took pets all over. Sweet silly guy! Per Staff 4/21/24: Tank got out for some activity time today! He was easy to leash in kennel, greeted with wags and soft eyes, and came right out. When we got to the room he sniffed around for a minute before happily trotting up to me and soliciting attention. Tank is a LOVE! He is so happy and excited to be with people. He gets a little too excited and starts jumping around! He does the most adorable little paw flails as he stands up, like he's trying not to land on you so hard but he's just so big he can't help it! It's especially funny when he's waiting for a treat. He can "sit" and "paw", but gets so excited for a treat that a lot of the time he just jumps up! Tank half jumped into my lap at one point and just laid there, soaking up some pets and attention. He's great for some deep pressure therapy! I adore Tank and his big goofiness. He LOVES squeaky toys and played with two different toys for over 10 minutes. He would shake them around in his mouth and throw them so that he could chase them and start the game all over. He let me pet him and grab the toys that were in his mouth with no issues, he just wants to have fun with you. Tank is the most goofy, loving, friendly tank of a dog that you'll ever meet! When it was time to return to kennel he returned with no issue. Per Staff 4/19/24: As soon as we entered the room Tank started bouncing around happily. He is such a happy boy! He took some time to sniff around the room and go potty, but did stop and show me some tricks for treats! He knows "sit" and "paw", and gets so excited to give you his paw! He gets a little jumpy and excited during trick time, but he was easy to manage. Tank also took the treats incredibly gently, making sure not to get my fingers at all. He enjoys treats and affection, and will come running up to you when called. Tank allowed all over handling with no issues! Super friendly and social, he tries to be aware of his size (his jumping gets the better of him). He's an overgrown love bug! I can see why kids on his block would play with him! Gets jumpy and with his size he can be a lot. He tries not to completely bulldoze you or knock you over, but he's a big boy! He tries to redirect his energy onto toys but doesn't always work, but you can push him off of you when he jumps. Per Staff 4/18/24: 12:03 Dog appears friendly, neighbors stated that the dog plays with all the kids on the block Medical notes -- On 5/2/24 PCR came back Pneumovirus positive and Herpesvirus Type 1 positive. Current PCR results pending. On 4/25/24 Tank was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and tested positive for Pneumovirus and Mycoplasma. During the intake exam on 4/20/24 staff noted that Tank had slight yellow stain on his teeth but was overall in good general health. Staff also noted "bright alert responsive very playful puppy energy. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week.
