APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application-pet-central-satx/ We must have an application to move forward. In foster in Tumwater, WA CHIEF is a 32# Australian Cattle Dog (aka Blue Heeler) male that is about 3 yrs old (best guess by our vet). He is a lively and happy dog. He loves to play with other dogs and the introduction time is almost not needed for him. He is housetrained. He is weary of cats but if they run he will chase. We are working on that and he is learning some house rules. As much as his teeth tell us he is about 3yrs old, his happiness and activity level says he's younger. On a scale of 1-10, I would put him at about a 7. He is happy and asks for love and attention. He is okay on the leash...not yet "good" but we're working on it. He doesn't mind the leash but he does want to go and have fun. With one day in our house, he was running outside with our pack of house dogs and coming in when called. He is very smart and willing to please. Most Heelers love water and would be great for water adventures. Heelers are a major cross of the Border Collie (for their brains) and the Australian Dingo (a wild dog that is very sturdy and healthy). Other breeds were included in the background to include Dalmatian (which is why the puppies are born all white then develop their spots and colors during the next year), and even Kelpie and English Bull Dog. The Blue Heeler holds the Guinness Book of Records for longevity...a dog named Bluey at 29yrs 5 mos. The Heeler's personality is a lot like the Border Collie... very dedicated to their owner; a need to work...or be busy. They are like all dogs, though, that they need socialization with other dogs and other people. (Check out on YouTube about the Blue Heeler called Skid Boot). Adoptions include neuter/spay, vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, health certificate, transport with our professional dog transporter, and 6 mos of heart worm prevention. You can also go to our Facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/Pet-Central-SATX-866684826744181/ and LIKE us to help us out. After we review your application, we will contact you, and you'll have the opportunity to find out more from their foster family or the rescue. If you experience any issues filling out the application you can contact us directly at shaynerescue@gmail.com. This is ONLY if you have problems applying. If you have not applied, you will not receive a response so please only email if you have any issues applying. Adoption Fees The adoption fee includes transportation to WA/OR. All pups and dogs are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped, dewormed, have a negative heart worm test for all dogs over 6 months at time of transport, have a health certificate, and have all age-appropriate vaccinations. Some dogs/pups have additional medical, including but not limited to FHO, ACL, hernias, dental, and other vetting. All medical records will be provided to the adopter at the time they pick up their dog. HOW ABOUT FOSTERING! If you are not in the position to afford a puppy/dog but still want to be an important factor in dog rescue, we recommend fostering. Fostering ensures you incur no vet bills and no boarding fees while saving a life and enjoying the love of a canine companion. We are always in need of good fosters. You can sign up to foster at this link: https://shaynesrescue.com/foster-application/ This is a post on behalf of Pet Central SATX Rescue, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, where there are over 350,000 homeless pets. We have hundreds of puppies/dogs available so there really is no need to apply anywhere else. Also, one application is good even if you are interested in several different dogs...one application no matter which one you choose. Thank you for choosing to adopt a rescue pup/dog. We firmly believe there is NO breed other than "rescue" for all species. Thank you for being part of the village it takes to save these precious lives.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt CHIEF, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
