My story

Meet Keebler – the cookie elf who gave up baking to pursue his true calling: being everyone's favorite goober. This happy-go-lucky ray of sunshine is permanently stuck on “smile mode,” like he just remembered he left his chew toy in the couch cushions and can’t wait to go rescue it. Keebler doesn’t walk—he bounces. He’s the kind of dog who looks at life like it’s one big game of fetch (even if no one’s actually throwing anything). If you’re looking for a serious, no-nonsense kind of pup… well, Keebler would like to respectfully decline your application and go chase a butterfly instead. He's goofy, he's grinning, and he's absolutely convinced that your lap was made specifically for him. Keebler, 33 lbs of fuzzy optimism wrapped in a Great Pyrenees puppy suit. At just 4 months old, Keebler has already survived death row, battled a nasty upper respiratory infection, and still somehow manages to be the happiest creature in any room. Honestly, we don’t know what kind of serotonin he’s running on, but we’d like to bottle it. He and his brother Takoda ended up in the shelter, sick and out of time, but thanks to some fast-acting rescue magic, Keebler traded in his death row sentence for a second chance—and he’s been smiling ever since. No, really. He’s always smiling. It’s kind of his thing. If you’re looking for a calm, aloof wallflower who prefers solitude and personal space… yeah, Keebler is not your guy. This kid is the walking embodiment of a confetti cannon—he’s everywhere, all at once, and absolutely thrilled to be alive. He's the life of every dog gathering, the one doing zoomies while the others are still trying to figure out which end is up. If there's a pup in the yard, Keebler wants to play with it. If there's no pup in the yard, he still wants to play—with a leaf, his shadow, or possibly your shoelaces. He treats cats like weird but interesting playmates—definitely not food, probably not furniture, but definitely worth inviting to the party. With people, he’s got all the subtlety of a golden retriever in a ball pit. Whether you're a familiar face or someone who just wandered into his line of sight, you are now his best friend. Handshakes? Nah. Keebler prefers full-body wiggles and tail wags that could double as small windstorms. He’s met teenagers and handled it like a champ—playful, bouncy, and fully committed to being the center of attention. This kid is a goofy, happy-go-lucky little gremlin who lives to play, splash, dig, and generally treat every day like it’s a surprise birthday party in his honor. His energy level hovers around a 5 out of 10—until water is involved, and then suddenly he's an 11 with gills. If you have a kiddie pool, a sprinkler, or a garden hose, congratulations—you’ve just become his new favorite human. He’s the kind of puppy who is always down for the plan, whether it's a hike, a backyard dig-a-thon, or a toy-shredding extravaganza. He’s too young to have picked a side in the "adventure-seeker vs. nap king" debate, so he defaults to “why not both?” His ideal day includes playdates, puddles, and proudly parading stuffed toys around like trophies. Temperament-wise, Keebler is a walking serotonin boost. He’s funny, upbeat, and the kind of dog who makes you wonder how someone so small can have that much enthusiasm for life. Fenced yard? Great. Apartment with regular exercise? Also fine. Keebler’s pretty adaptable. Just know this: wherever you go, he’s going too—with a grin, a splash, and probably some mud. Keebler is doing awesome with potty training—because apparently, being ridiculously charming and mastering the basics is just how he rolls. He’s been rocking the kennel life too, treating it more like a cozy studio apartment than a place of confinement. As for barking? He’s more of a casual commentator. He’s not out here trying to break news or report on every squirrel in a 3-mile radius. But if the other dogs are barking? Oh yeah, he’ll chime in like he’s been part of the conversation the whole time. And just a friendly reminder: this is a puppy we’re talking about. He’s sweet, he’s social, he’s water-obsessed—and he’s still got that classic baby brain. Puppy-proofing your house isn’t optional unless you enjoy the thrill of discovering your socks have been relocated or your remote now has “character.” He’s learning fast, but like any young fluffball, he’s gonna need supervision, structure, and a stash of toys he’s actually allowed to play with. So if you're reading this and thinking, “Okay, maybe I do need a water-loving goofball who thinks every day is his birthday,” then Keebler might just be your soulmate in a fluffy little package. Just know—this isn’t a drive-thru puppy situation. You’ll need to fill out an adoption app at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app (because Keebler deserves someone who can commit to more than just binge-watching) and be ready to scoop him up in Hutchinson, Kansas. Yes, he’s worth the road trip. And yes, he will make you laugh every single day.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Keebler, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
