Omaha, NE - URGENT - FAMILY IS MOVING TO EUROPE (personal reasons and are heartbroken). THEY ONLY HAVE 6 WEEKS TO FIND A HOME FOR THESE BONDED BOYS. MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER. TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE WITHIN REASON. FROM FAMILY: We are moving to Spain in September and I have a 5 year old St Bernard and a 1 year old English Mastiff. I love them dearly, but I've exhausted all options to move them with us as we will be renting in Spain. I have been working with a rescue in my hometown, who has been unable to find anyone interested in them thus far. I would prefer to keep them together, mainly because the EM loves the Saint dearly. The Saint would probably be find without EM though. They are my world and it breaks my heart into pieces to let them go. I need to make sure they will go to a loving home, and ideally I would love for someone to send us emails and pics every now and then so my son can still feel connected to them. They are his world also. Our Saint is named Moose. Our English Mastiff is named Cheeto. About us - we live in Omaha, Nebraska. Our youngest child is age 11, so Moose has grown up with him since he was age 6. Both dogs are good with kids, but of course, because of their size you have to watch when they pivot as the butt can knock over younger kids. Cheeto is still a puppy and more active than a Saint, so he's still in the bouncing/playing stage of life and I can see him accidentally knocking into a smaller child with his bounciness. About my pups. Moose is the St Bernard. He's the typical Saint - loves everyone. Would happily let anyone in the house. Not a guard dog at all. Never barks. He's a giant cat. Loves to play with other dogs with no concept that other dogs fear his size or may not want to play with him. Would probably not do well with aggressive or excessively dominant dogs. He's not very dominant, but I don't think he'd do well with a dog that was since he grew up with our other Saint, who died at age 11, and the other Saint wasn't overly dominant. Loves to be outside when the temp is under 55/60 degrees. Hates the outside with any temp over 70/75. Hates camping. Loves the farmer's market and dog parks/daycare. Cheeto just turned 1 year old in May. He's a very cautious dog. He's not a dog that's going to love you from Day 1. He's scared of new people and wants to come to you on his terms. He's going to sniff you, walk back, bark at you, come and sniff you again and repeat for 20-30 minutes. We do foster care though so we regularly have new children in the house and he's never aggressive. He just keeps his distance for 30-45 minutes before he becomes relaxed. He was socialized as a puppy and went to puppy classes. He does well one on one with new dogs as long as they aren't too spastic - jumping on his back, etc. He prefers playing with larger breeds that match his energy level of playing for 5 minutes and then laying down huffing and puffing. Once Cheeto trust you, he is the most loveable dog ever. Lays at your feet all the time. He loves to play fetch with his rope toy or squeaky toys. Both dogs are not food aggressive at all. I free feed Moose and he self regulates. Cheeto I feed 4-5 times a day with a slow feeder. He is getting better with age and at some point may be able to go to a free feeder. They each know which bowl is theirs and Cheeto will only eat out of his bowl. Both are kennel trained. Moose never really goes into a kennel anymore. Cheeto is still in his kennel when we're away from the house and at night because he'll get into things when he's bored. I can't think of anything else right now. Please let me know if you have any additional question or if you think you can help. We are willing to travel to drop them off at the right home. Oh - they are up to date on all vaccines. Both are male. Moose is neutered. Cheeto is not yet since we were waiting until age 2. Loads of photos and video of these 2 amazing dogs.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cheeto, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
