ALL ABOUT ME Name: Roxy Age: 3 years old (Born January 2022) Gender: Female Spayed/Neutered: Yes Breed: German pointer mix Colour: Black & White Weight: 22kg / 48.5lbs Microchipped: Yes MY RESCUE STORY Hi there! My name is Roxy. Earlier this year, my world was turned upside down when a fire broke out near my home. Scared and unsure of what to do, I did the only thing I could—I hid in my little doghouse, hoping it would protect me. I suffered some burns, but thanks to the quick action and kindness of my rescuers, I was saved just in time. I may carry a few scars, but my heart is healing more and more each day. Through it all, I’ve remained gentle, hopeful, and so ready to find a loving family who will show me that the world can be safe and full of love again. MY HEALTH Fully vaccinated (5-round series complete) I’ve been spayed and have no known health issues. MY PERSONALITY I’m a bright and loving girl who absolutely adores people! Whenever I see volunteers or staff, I’m quick to offer my paw and lie down, just to show how happy I am to be near them. I’m even cuter in person — photos just don’t capture my full charm! You’ll often see me with my ears playfully pinned back, excited to greet everyone; that’s my happy little signature look in videos and pictures. Despite going through such a scary fire tragedy, I refuse to let it define me. I’m a cheerful, happy-go-lucky girl with a heart full of hope, ready to fill your life with love and joy. MY SOCIAL SKILLS With People: I absolutely love people — getting pets and attention from new friends makes my tail wag nonstop! Believe it or not, I even prefer snuggles and affection over treats — how crazy is that? When we first meet, I’ll happily show you my belly as a sweet sign of trust. While I haven’t had much experience with little kids yet, I’m confident that with gentle, respectful introductions, I’ll get along just fine. You can pick me up if you’d like, but I do prefer to take it slow. And don’t worry, I’m super easygoing—I don’t guard my food around people at all! With Dogs: I’m definitely a people’s pup through and through—there’s nothing I love more than spending time with my human friends! When it comes to other dogs, I’m a bit more selective. I like to take things slow and steady, and I really appreciate thoughtful, supervised introductions. If a pup gets rude or pushy, I’m not shy about standing up for myself to protect my space. I can be a little protective of my food too, so it’s best if I’m fed separately during mealtimes to keep things peaceful for everyone. That said, I do get along well with many dogs here at the care facility and enjoy their company in my own way. With Cats: I haven’t met any cats yet so my reaction is unknown. ENERGY AND ACTIVITIES I have a moderate to high energy level — I absolutely love spending time outdoors, exploring all the new sights and smells around me. When I’m outside, you’ll often find me running and playing with plenty of enthusiasm! But once I’m back home, I’m just as happy to snuggle up and be your cozy couch companion. Even though I get energized when I’m out and about, I know how to settle down and be calm when I’m in my own personal space. TRAINING & HABITS When I’m outside, I do tend to pull a bit, especially when something catches my eye or I want to explore a certain direction. I’ll need some patient guidance to help me with leash training and learn to walk more calmly by your side. I’m usually a quiet pup, but sometimes I’ll give a little bark to get your attention or when I see a stranger—though I quickly calm down once I realize you’re a friend. I prefer to do my business outdoors and I know how to rest quietly in my kennel. Right now, I don’t have much separation anxiety, but once I truly bond with my forever family, it might develop a bit. I’ll need your gentle support and reassurance to build my confidence and trust, so I’ll always know I’m safe and loved and won’t ever be abandoned again. MY IDEAL HOME I’m looking for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with: A family that offers a safe, structured, and calm environment. A family that enjoys spending quality time together indoors & outdoors. A family that can shower me with love and attention. An active family who will give me regular exercise and lots of running time outside. Understanding my deep love for food and is willing to guide me with patient, confidence training—especially when other dogs are nearby during mealtime—to help me feel secure and supported. SPECIAL NOTES I’ll need a bit of extra care and gentle management for my burn wounds from the fire. I have some burns on my bum area, and there’s a good chance my fur might not grow back there—but don’t worry, it doesn’t slow me down one bit! I’ll need regular attention to keep my coat healthy and looking its best, but beyond that, I’m in great health and don’t require any special treatment. True to my breed’s spirited nature, I absolutely love to run around and explore—I’m full of energy and curiosity! Most of all, I adore people and thrive on their love and attention. Being around kind hearts is what truly makes me happiest, and I can’t wait to find a family who will shower me with all the affection I deserve. ##2474068##
