My story

This is Boots! She came to us from a hoarding situation in Navajo County with 47 husky mixes on one property. She’s a bit shy at first, but truly is a sweet, playful girl with so much to offer. She adjusted slowly to her foster home, but it was a big change! She’s coming around now to show her “true” husky personality. Boots really likes to hang back and enjoys watching others play. She’s had playful moments and does very well with a variety of animals including dogs, cats, and horses! We think eventually she will like to play and go on walks but right now she only seeks cuddles at night. Boots taught herself the doggie door on day 2 and has had zero accidents in the house which is pretty amazing given where she came from. She’s not food motivated and didn’t come to us with any experience with crate or leash training, but her foster has been helping her learn how to be a “normal” dog. She has some puppy-like behavior, including chewing shoes and clothes if they’re left out, but she won’t seek them out if kept away and responds very well to verbal correction. She seeks out other pets in home for comfort and is an incredibly sweet girl. We really think Boots will only continue to open up more in the right home! Boots would do best with other dogs to keep her company and show her the ropes! With her history, we think she needs companionship – she’s never lived without other animals. She does well with cats, and we think she would be ok with kids 7+; she isn’t aggressive at all but younger kids may spook her. She will need some time and patience as she adjusts in any home, but you will be rewarded with the most affectionate loving girl! If you have any questions or would like to adopt Boots, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
