My story

Dog Name: Wake Forrest Breed: Lab mix Sex: male Age: 11 weeks (estimated dob 3/2/25) Weight: 12 lbs Medical Needs: Wake Forrest will need a rabies shot at approximately 6 months. He will need to be neutered. This appointment will be scheduled through Grass Roots Rescue. Neuter appointments can be requested for Georgetown, Dover, Wilmington or Newark. Foster to adopt families must live within an hour of one of the locations listed above, and must be willing to travel there for the appointment. A required $75 check must be submitted by adopter, which Grass Roots Rescue will hold and then destroy once neuter is verified. Wake Forrest will be ready to go to his forever home after his booster shot on 7/27. Housebroken: Wake is just a baby. He will go when walked outside but will have accidents. Due to his age, Wake can not be left alone for a full work day. He will either need someone that works from home, or has a solid plan in place for each day they work. Crate trained: Wake will enter his crate for a treat but tries to run back out quickly. He will protest and sing hoping you will come back for him but settles quickly. If he makes a fuss again he needs a potty break! Good in the car: Yes! He will snuggle up and sleep. Good on a leash: Everyday is better! Energy Level: High puppy energy but will crash once he gets his energy out. He is onery and needs to be watched in the house when not crated. Need a fenced in yard: No, if there is no fence he will need to be leash walked. Dog Friendly: Yes, he gets along with all other dogs. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its new home? No Cat friendly: Wake piles on top of a cat and SMOTHERS them in puppy love and kisses! He’s also good about understanding what the murder mitts mean, and backing off, so he hasn’t gotten any battle scars yet. Kid Friendly: Yes! If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any with supervision. Please keep in mind puppies have sharp little teeth and nails. He will need to be taught hands and toes are not toys. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? What is not to love about Wake Forrest! This pup earned his freedom ride to Delaware from North Carolina. His sweet face and gorgeous grey green eyes will make you instantly fall in love with him. Wake is an independent little man, very curious, and doesn’t want to be held all the time. He wants to be with his people but he’s not afraid to investigate something new. He is a young puppy, he needs a family that will understand he is going to chew on things he probably shouldn’t and work with him on basic commands and training. Wake Forrest will need a home that won’t give in to his puppy dog eyes and will teach him how to be the best boy as he grows up.
