Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog! It’s Mickey, but he’s more like a majestic lion than a mouse!Mickey was born in a rural area as part of a litter of four, but he was separated from his mother and littermates at just seven weeks old. This was likely too early to have learned all that he needed to from his mother, and to fully gain the social skills that come from interacting with littermates at that young age. This led to Mickey being surrendered because of his behaviour, but now he is ready to show the right person(s) what a fun and affectionate boy he can be! ABOUT MICKEY- At shelter- Mickey is a morning cat who loves scratches around the head, neck, cheeks, and behind the ears at the start of his day which is when he generally feels the most affectionate.- Mickey is sociable on his own terms and does not enjoy being picked up. - Once comfortable, Mickey likes to be around people, but he can sometimes get overstimulated, so watch for his cues. When Mickey is feeling anxious, it is best to give him some alone time.- Mickey loves treats and the sound of the treat bag shaking is music to Mickey’s big ears. He’ll be sure to come running!- Initially timid in his new environment, Mickey has adjusted to shelter life, “hanging and chilling out” with volunteers, enjoying attention from them, and going out to explore the place when given the opportunity.- Mickey loves to play with laser pointers and small wind-up toys.- Mickey is on behaviour medication to help calm his reactive tendencies.- Mickey is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.MICKEY’S IDEAL HOME- This handsome boy would do best in a home with experienced cat owners who can read his body language and signs of overstimulation.- Mickey must be the only cat in the house and no young children.- We are unsure how Mickey would do with other dogs or other pets as he has had no exposure to them.- Mickey is available on a foster-to-adopt basis. Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help him settle into his new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Mickey with a successful transition to his forever home.Do you have room in your clubhouse for a gorgeous feline named Mickey?M-I-C (SEE him real soon!)
