My story

My name is Cassidy and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m a 2-y.o. girl who came to my foster home in Ypsilanti, MI, from a commercial breeding facility. I haven’t been here long, but I’m learning that I like living in a home with humans! My foster family has been so nice, so that has helped me trust and have fun. And foster mom says I’m as sweet as can be. (Aw, shucks.) I’m still a bit cautious, but there’s so much to explore and I’m also curious to see and smell it all. I like having my “safe spaces” to retreat to when I need to relax, but all foster mom has to do to coax me out is to say my name in that soothing voice that she has. Then I’m happy to get petted or go for a walk. I’m a healthy 32-lb girl – spayed and vaccinated. I’m a good girl in the house. I’m potty trained and don’t get into trouble, even when my foster family goes out. I love to sleep snuggled up with my foster family at night and wake up buried in covers. I’m smart too! I’m learning new words, like my name and “outside!” and “walk!” I’ve learned all about leash walks and I like to decide which direction we’ll go. There are other dogs here and I like them a lot. We like to run and play in the fenced yard. I’d love it if my forever home had a securely fenced yard for me to play in. I’d enjoy having a nice dog friend too, but I’d probably do fine as an only dog as long as my family has time to snuggle and play with me. My perfect forever home will be patient and help me continue to build my confidence and blossom and learn everything about life as a treasured family member. There aren’t any little human kids here in my foster home, but I’ve met a neighbor kid who petted me and that was fine. I haven’t met any cats or other small pets yet, so I don’t know how I’d feel about them. If you live in the Midwest and are looking for a love bug to snuggle with under the covers, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt for more information and to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application helps SIRA learn more about you and your home environment so they can tell if we'll be a good match. Once approved, they can introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet! That would be awesome!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cassidy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
