My story

Maddie and her sister, Sunlight, had to say goodbye to their Mom who sadly has dementia and could no longer care for them. They are now ready for their next chapter! Let's make sure it is one filled with love and happiness!Maddie is an absolute delight! She is the sweetest little thing and loves to cuddle with her person! In the first few hours at her foster home, she jumped up on the couch and the bed to get snuggles. Despite her age, she is a spry tiny tot that loves to explore her surroundings and be involved in the household activities. Maddie is very good with cats (if they run, she may chase in fun) and great with other dogs. She is quiet and seems to have a background in housetraining. She adores people! She has the cutest airplane wing ears you have ever seen - they stick straight out as if to say - I'm ready to fly into your arms - haha. She will nudge your hand to ask for pets. And she will steal your heart immediately!Maddie needed to be shaved but never fear - her pretty curls will grow back! She does not need to be adopted with her sister (and is not currently being fostered with her) but if you want two girls then take a look at Sunlight as well. Maddie does need a dental and it is currently scheduled for Aug 1st. She is thin and needs to gain a little weight which will be easier when her mouth isn't hurting! She loves treats! Her name is from her previous home so she probably knows it, but it could also be changed. Note: Sweet Maddie has kidney disease and requires a daily supplement for life. We do not know how much time she has left, but currently she is doing great and she deserves to have a loving home for whatever months/years she graces us with her presence. We are trying to find a local adopter (within Texas preferably) for Maddie. To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.https://longwayhome.org/apply ❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. As long as they need rescue, that's what is most important to us.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Maddie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
